eiwhavoieuhaodijahdsi this game is killing me. It's awesome though. Invested 5 hrs into a demon knight accidentally cursed my armor and died to a mob of goblins....good times.

  3. My favourite so far with regard to DCSS is either a KoVM or MeVM. (For those newbies, that's Kobold Venom Mage or Merfolk Venom Mage).

Seriously. People cried about Sigmund when he was first released. Mephitic cloud, then poison dart, and I sat there watching as he hit himself and vomited himself to death.

Bought Mirror's Edge at the steam sale. It really scares me as I have a bit fear of heights and you play as a parcours runner that's hunted by cops over the roofs of skyscrapers. Sometimes you can nock some of them out but the main thing is getting away somehow. Also you never know the the next shot or rough landing will kill you because you don't have a life bar. I bought it because it was cheap and the graphics excited me and it was totaly worth it :)

I clicked on this thread scaned the first page didn't see Soldat said DAFUQ?
Opened every page and searched for the word Soldat.

Soldat is my all time favorite game not just indie game. I haven't played it for a couple months because I need to do other important stuff and I just love it too much.

Aside from that Binding of Isaac I just played and that was outstanding.

Atom Zombie Smasher is a great game it even has mod support and three person local co-op I mean WTF that's just ridiculous.

This isn't such a great game but I'm adding it here anyway because I don't think anybody has played it. Its Bring Your Waterwings.
I have it on this CD of 300+ Mac games for OS9 and its crappy but special to me because nobody has played it. I haven't been able to find any info about it on the internets that's how few people have played it.

And of course Minecraft pure gaming gold.
KAG is also up there but until I've played it for years I can't be sure if its the absolute best of the best for me but considering I'd rank it above AZS and Binding of Isaac it should probably be on my list. Terraria I'd probably also like but I've only played a few minutes so far.

One of my favourite games of all time. :D (although it's not strictly 'indie')
Was kinda hoping for similar parkouryness in Brink, but that was a let-down. Tribes Ascend has a similar zoomy fell, though. :D

Tribes is best go fast! Seriously that game is so much fun to just zip around in, especially as a pathfinder.

  9. If you liked Parkour, though it wasn't really an indie game, then the Surf maps on CS 1.6 were so much fun.

Mirror's Edge had a neat concept but it had a key problem in design (shared somewhat with the Sonic series). The beauty of the game, how it's meant to be, is fast. Seamless and smooth flow. However I found that a lot of it was more puzzle based, meaning you had to spend some time figuring out what the next step was.

Rather than continuous flow the game was paced in spurts of action unless you had done a course a few times.

The original CS was very much indie, although a mod and not a game. It was only at the end of its development cycle that they hired the dev.

  12. I'm talkin' before Source. :P

    Those were the days...

1.3 was the best for surfing I think.

You got a point. But I somehow like the pauses in the flow because it let's me calm down and dry my sweaty hands :D They also tried to solve the problem with the colours so you know most of the time where to run. I think that's done quite well. Now that I've played more there's only one thing I don't like: when I know how to solve a puzzle but my lack of skill in hitting buttons with the exact right timing forbids me to do so and I can't go on. But I think that's nothing game design could solve. Maybe with a guitar hero style system that tells you whe to hit what button. But that'll be boring.

And sorry for not posting a "real" indie game. I used the forum search to look in what thread there was already sb talking about the game ;)

OMG! I just realized I forgot to mention Little Fighter 2! One of the greatest games ever. Also how has nobody mentioned it yet?
I used to manage to get 4 people playing in my laptop keyboard at once without ghosting being an issue.
The mods like LF 2.5 and stuff added so much extra game play I'd be happy if that was my only game sadly most of the people I know get tired of it so I only get to play when I'm around new people who are too sucky to have played it yet.
Something else LF2 has the easiest networking options of any game ever just put in an IP address and it works though its missing in game chat.

If you don't know there is a sequel called Hero Fighter but development hasn't finished and as it stands right now its not better than LF2.

Can I get your character so I can then whoop your ass with it? :P

  18. That character's long since lost from that computer. Only copy was there and its CPU caught on fire and destroyed most of the computer one hot summer. (it was very, very overclocked and had poor cooling.)

WHERE THE FUCK IS VVVVVV. I know a couple people who didn't like that game, but the fantastic chiptune music and just eye-candy level design had me squealing with happiness almost the entire game. I also remember Super Crate Box. I really should re-install that game. Other games go without saying. KAG, Bastion, Binding of Isaac, Cave Story, Trine 1 and 2, World of Goo, Braid, Minecraft, Terraria (somewhat), DF, and Limbo.

    BUT; HERE'S SOME OTHERS:

    Aquaria
    Starfarer
Swords and Sworcery (Fuck you, I like point-and-clicks)
    AaaaaAAaaaAAAaaAAAAaAAAAA!!! For the Awesome
    Atom Zombie Smashers
Blocks That Matter (Again, fuck you, I like puzzle games)
    Darwinia & Multiwinia
    DEFCON
    Revenge of the Titans
    Frozen Synapse
    Psychonauts (does that count?)
SpaceChem (I FUCKING LOVE THAT GAME BUT I'M SUCH A DUMBASS)
Does Torchlight count? I've honestly spent more time on that game then 90% of games I've played.
And if we're naming flash games, I really loved ir/rational Redux, a great rationally-based puzzle flash game.
