KAG Youtube monetization

    Hey guys, got a single and simple question that you can all guess from the title, "Is monetization of Kag youtube videos allowed ?".

    I guess it's mainly Geti who can answer that, but the answer may interest more people.

    I mainly want to record games, and maybe do more tutorials/chronicles of Kag. I think the game deserve more visibility and it's one of the games I want to cover in my youtube channel and in the website I'm building.

    Their terms&conditions does not specifically cover the rights of Youtube monetization, unlike games like Minecraft or FTL. I would send an e-mail to one of the devs, show them what you have, asking for a written permission.

    Just to say it publicly, since I've been asked a few times - Yes, you may monetise youtube videos containing KAG footage. If you start making millions, we'd appreciate if you donated some of that money to help support development, but it's not required.

    I'll work with the other devs about getting this explicitly in the ToS.

    Haha could you imagine if a KAG Youtuber started making more money off their videos than Geti gets from KAG. Dat capitalism.

    This doesn't really apply to me since I put copyrighted music on 90% of my videos and only have like 40 views on most of them but are there any advantages to monetizing them (aside from the remote possibility of monies)? Will Youtube give them higher suggestion priority or anything like that?

    Not a higher suggestion priority afaik, but if you have lots of views then putting those super annoying ads on them can make you some money - it's not something you should do unless you're pulling thousands of views, as they tend to annoy people a tad ;). If you get a stupid amount of views, then youtube sometimes hit you up and basically hire you to make videos for them so you continue turning heads. This is why there are professional youtube videoholics or whatever they're called.

    Feel free to correct me, this is mostly hearsay, but yeah.

    Yes please do! If you make a million we won't harass you for it, we'll be happy.
    The only thing that matters to me is that more people will come play KAG, so make videos that will encourage it.

    I agree, If you do make a lot of views This will bring more veiwers and intrigue more people to play. Just like Yogscast Sjin did. It would be definitely beneficial for the kag team and may have an impact on everyone. Do it! i say!
