Depends on the moves not the typing for whether its physical or special.

  2. Gen III types were either physical or special, it's when it became gen IV that moves were split into physical or special.

I just think... stupid that Ghost was a physical type where nearly every ghost had higher spatk than atk.

    Toast used revive!!!
so i restarted my pokemon white 2 and decided to use a team only of steels type for some reason or pokemon that will evolve into a steel type.
but at at least at the end of the game my team will be all steels
i grinded for all my pokemon right now
right now i have a Attk+/spd- lucario (cant remember nature)
    an adamant drilbur
    a modest magnemite
i hope to pick up a skarmory
pokemon that might be good for last 2 slots
    aron/aggron, pawniard/bisharp, genesect, bronzor/bronzong, metang/metagross, durant, ferroseed/ferrothorn, nosepass/probopass, escavalier, klinklang, steelix
i know fire and fighting will be a problem

  4. If you're doing a steel only run, I'd suggest:

Either Durant or Escavalier (Escav has higher attack, but much lower speed, and Durant has high speed and some decent sets of coverage moves. They also are neutral vs fighting but pay for that with 4x vs. fire).
Metagross (adamant nature). It can carry coverage moves (mine has Meteor Mash for good STAB, Zen Headbutt for more good STAB, Bullet punch for priority (can be swapped out for Hammer Arm/ Brick Break vs. other steel / rock / normal types) and earthquake. It's rather slow, though. A choice scarf (once you unlock some of the tournaments) will alleviate that.
Steelix has absurdly good def, and moderately good attack. It's perfect for a Curse set, because it's speed is through the floor. Beware of special Fire types though. It'll wall physical fire types (even Darmanitan) without much issue. It's weak to water though.
Bronzong is immune to ground moves, leaving its only weakness fire (and even then it walls pretty well. Gyro Ball with minimum speed hits like a tank.)
Aggron is really only good for stone edge + earthquake + metal burst + rest combos.

I might revise that for you. Steel types (besides Lucario and Magnezone) are almost exclusively attackers.

Aggron is an absolute behemoth apparently. It's got 110/60/50 attacking stats, very heavily weighted to Trick Room (Bronzong can set this up). Its defensive stats are even better. 70/180/60 means 344 hp / 504 def / 240 spdef maximums. Smogon recommends it carry Rock Head (for no recoil damage), and the moves Autotomise (sharp boost to speed), Earthquake, Head Smash and Aqua Tail.

Durant is quite good to use, albeit frail. 109/48/109 attacking stats are very nice, allowing it to move quickly and abuse its decent typing. Mine's set up for maximum coverage, with X-Scissor, Shadow Claw, Crunch and Iron Head. It's very frail indeed, so it can't set up to sweep. 58/112/48 is terrible (besides the defense).

Steelix is great fun to use. Gyro Ball + Curse hits like a brick shithouse off 85 attack / 30 speed. It can take a defensive hit very easily, better than Aggron, with 75 / 200 / 65 defenses.

A fool for ever doubting Aggron.
    Fecking steel dinosaur, nub. :3

Also: really pisses me off that 3rd-gen fire is so retord. Can't get flamethrower easily without missing out on double-kick, which makes him useless for a casual run.
i.e. Can't just burninate everything with fire. :(

  6. Yeah, true, Wonkyth. You only learn Sky Uppercut at like... 58 I think

take aggron n click da head smosh

Also maybe grab something with some spec def evs or nature. Consider Jirachi (if you can get one), Bronzong, Ferrothorn, or even a Probopass. I'm guessing Heatran isn't on your list due to availability but he's an obvious addition due to Flash Fire.

You've got two good physically offensive mons so I wouldn't really recommend another unless they can bring something special to the table.

A specially offensive, scarfed Genesect would be a good addition on account of being powerful as fuck but also you need a revenge killer to stop fast fire pokes from running through your team. Piling a bunch of priority moves onto Lucario sort of does this but even if you want to burn all of your slots of priority moves, Extreme Speed/Bullet Punch/Vacuum Wave/Mach Punch doesn't hit pokemon like Chandelure for shit.

    ah chandelure damn.....
so should i go bronzong and aggron then for my final 2
right now i am training on the path to the electric cave, before fighting the ground gym which i hope won't be too much of a problem. my pokemon lvls are 31, 30 and 30. lucario is the one at 31, i think it is the best bet.

There are a lot of Pokemon that could run straight through your team even when used by the AI (such as Chandelure, Infernape with Mach Punch, or basically just any fast fire Pokemon that Lucario can't mop up with priority). Also I'm assuming you'll do the sensible thing and try to be underlevelled so the game will actually be a challenge.

Reudh's idea of using Trick Room is good to cover up your general speed problem. In the same vein you might want to try using Rain Dance to cover up your fire weakness (though of course don't try to set up Gravity and Rain at the same time). I remember when I played Fire Red I only managed to beat Gary's Charizard by putting up rain ahead of time so I could live its powerful Fire Blasts.

  10. Additionally, sandstorm can be learned by Steelix, and no steel type is affected by it. I'm not sure if the 50% spdef bonus that Rock gets carries over to Steel though. Useful for hurting the power of anything that's not ground.

Woops I forgot to add "but I haven't played BW2 so I don't know what you'll be fighting".

Also he was like 10-20 levels ahead of me so he out sped everything and killed them in one hit. :p I did use Rock Blast to kill him.

In emeral it's 'dad who sais that.

  16. Adamant is good, Toast. Boosts attack, lowers Spatk, which Aggron doesn't use by virtue of its 60 base spatk.

I'm midly disappointed we're not getting a 3rd gen remake game at the time. I want my water trumpets and 3d tentacools popping up every 7 seconds.
