I am less than one month away from graduating high school, and I've come to realize that I'll never keep in contact with my high school friends. They will seemingly become minutia as I mature and drift away.

To those KAGers, who have finished school, do you still contact friends from school?

There's usually one or two better friends that you'll keep in contact with. How much and for how long, it depends pretty much on your interests and what you do on free time, also how far away they live. Often games with social options are a good pathway to keep the relationship up, as long as both parties play the game, or same hobbies etc.

I haven't kept in contact with any of my friends from school, i'm an asshole. Keep talking to them on facebook or twitter or whatever, I think the problem for me was that me and my friends never met up outside of school much so after school was over none of us were organised enough to organise a meet up. Maybe if you get into the swing of seeing them every now and then you should stay good friends. You never know what sort of people you're going to meet at your next college/uni, so it's best to keep the close friends you have now.

I keep in "contact" with many of my friends from high school through Facebook, but I only really hang out with one of them.

As for me I've been moving around a lot (capital city, city near my home, now I'm abroad) and it's hard for me to keep in touch with friends who I don't see everyday. It just doesn't work for me. I don't feel bad for it. I'm always finding new people to hang out with.

Basically, I have one friend. He moved away before we even finished high school (he moved away in 8th grade). We are best friends to this day.

some guys from our high school class still organize reunions now and then, usually in the summer when most people can make it. It's pretty awesome to see what the people you spent years of your life with are doing with their lives. Unless your class was full of assholes i guess ._.

Well, it's hard to have more REAL friends then fingers on your hands infact, i got arround 8 REAL friends, the other 300 on facebook are more like buddys, if you see them, you'll give a high five and say hey man whats up, nothing more, nothing less. That's kinda the norm it seems.

I'm still friends with almost everyone i was friends with in high school. People move away, but if you're really friends you'll find times to hang out.

Man to man relationships are generally instrumental, meaning that it's built around doing things. So to maintain a relationship with an old high school friend the best thing to do is make sure you have something to do together, like playing KAG or watching movies.

This is of course not to say that you must have an instrumental relationship, or that it is preferrable or natural for your relationship to be instrumental, just that it's the most likely (for male to male relationships).

Yes, a few of them from time to time. I do not keep regular contact as most of them are not friends but slightly above acquaintances. I'm not the type to keep in contact though, things like contacting people daily or weekly is beyond me I don't even enjoy facebook, I'll contact someone maybe once every few months, just how it is, either I see you on a daily basis or I see you every few months. :(

College will also definitely play a role in driving you apart or together those first few years.
