Pirating

You'll need a Premium account to be able to access the Multiplayer.

 

In order to be premium, and play the Beta version, you must have a Premium account. You'll only be able to get a Premium account if you insert a valid code that hasn't been used before at kag2d.com . If the server sees that you aren't premium, you won't be able to join.

The only thing you might be able to crack in beta is the single player, by having the client not bother to connect to the master server and give yourself a false gold flag. However, that's basically useless really. Since single player really isn't the point to KAG. This is because once you've logged in once, you don't have to connect to the master server to play single player. Either way, I don't think it'll be a big concern.

 

Yeah, well I guess you could just have it so that the server doesn't connect to the master server, have everyone with "fake" gold clients and directly connect to the server, but in that case you'd only be able to play on pirated servers, much in the same way as minecraft I guess.

 

As has been discussed above, to properly "hack" free premium KAG you'd need to host a whole new network of servers, and wouldn't be able to play with any friends that had bought the game legally.
Pirates will be pirates either way - the singleplayer will be DRM free to encourage people to just download the normal version, realise it's fun, and pay the ten bucks you'd otherwise spend on lunch or something equally mundane on getting access to the game.

We're not interested in invasive DRM because we believe it harms the legitimate consumer more and more - we'd rather just make something people are willing to pay for and provide the necessary services to make using it the legal way more convenient and fun than getting a pirated one and playing with limitless, unbannable hackers and griefers.

 

You cant make a code generator without buying 10000s of codes and "generating" those - we dont use an algorithm built into the binary to generate them, they have to be verified with our server, and new codes are only generated with a purchase or in batches for desura, macgamestore etc.
