Yes, it's free - as in you do not need to purchase any additional software/hardware, however, if you're looking at running a 24/7 server, that won't impact your internet browsing, then a VPS/Dedi would probably be more viable. If it's just for fun or private server for you and your friends, then if you have a good enough upload speed, should be no problems - Hell even with a slow upload speed you'll be able to have a few people connect.

As for "executing" the files, it varies from Operating System, in Linux it's as simple as configuring the nessisary files (see wiki) and running the dedicatedserver.sh - With windows it's a similar deal, however, I host with Linux and haven't really touched the Windows server version, it should be the same, however you run dedicatedserver.bat instead of .sh

You can also take a look at these guides made by predominant members of the community:

    https://forum.kag2d.com/threads/server-setup.13519/
    https://forum.kag2d.com/threads/server-setup.13335/

If you run in to specific problems you can post them up, but no one is going to make your server for you - There are plenty of resources available that give you all the information you need, you'll only need to read =) Good luck!

    2. Find autoconfig.cfg in the main KAG folder and any other appropriate files and edit them to your liking:
    Code:
Other folders that contain files you may want to edit: Base/Rules/GAMEMODE_NAME/ Base/Scripts/MapLoaders/ Base/Security/

    what things can i edit?

Hey! Damn this thread is old...

Anyways, I want to try make a server again. So I followed this guide, and the terminal obeyed... But when I tried finding the server in the browser, I didn't find it!
Oh, and I didn't find the autoconfig.cfg in the kagbeta-linux32-dedicated folder...

well, bro here is the solution and the easiest way to host a server, just use this tiny program I made.
    Hope this helps you
PS: if you are using Linux then install wine and use it to open the program, and you're done ::):
