Hey guys, my english teacher suggested to read some comics, stories, short stories...So that I can polish my writing skills.
So I was wondering if you guys could suggest me to read? Some good adventure stories or funny comics, I wanted to actually buy a book, but I dont think you guys know some books that could be found in Romania...

    Anyway, thanks!

If you like D&D, you're going to love this:
    http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0001.html
In the beginning it isn't that good, but it keeps getting better and better the more you progress. It isn't really 'short', however.

    I don't really know a lot more.

I'm sorry you feel that way, if abortion is a too tender subject then I suggest to check out our guides to Dating and Masturbation.

Yeah, this is only entertaining if you are a fan of D&D. Most of its humor is based on references to the game.

Here are a few webcomics with a wider appeal. Also, better artwork. (because you're reading a comic not a novel)

Don't have to buy any of the stuff I linked. Dunno how much it would help writing skills, though... they are just webcomics

Um. Hm hum um. In the vein of webcomics, I highly recommend Problem Sleuth! I can say with utmost certainty that it is the raddest thing. The art gets progressively more amazing as it goes on, but be aware that it's loooooong. It is literally very long, so don't expect to finish it in one sitting unless you are some sort of dude who never sleeps. Most of what Jackard posted is also rad, so definitely check those out, too.

As for books, Eats, Shoots and Leaves is a rad thing, equal parts instruction and humor. I am pretty sure there is an ebook version knockin' around somewhere, which is probably your only convenient option, I'd presume. That's all I've got that I figure might pique your interest, though!

Ditto on Problem Sleuth. That is some rad shit.

Also, maaaaaaaan I was about to suggest a bunch of comics (typed out and everything) but then I realised Jackard already posted most of them!
Damn you people with your good taste!

Anyways, if you like sci fi stories then check out Schlock Mercenary - it has some pretty epic story arcs and it has updated every single day for years and years so there is a LOT in the archives.

Also, check out 8 Bit Theatre - its a great, long comic that finished a year or so ago.

Well I mostly wanted books because comics tend to have things like: ''Waaazaaaa'' instead of the classic ''How are you?''. Afterall thats why my teacher suggested me to read some books, they have a pure english.

But of course I will look trough the comics, they seem quite interesting.

I really enjoyed (skim-)reading 18th and 19th century travelogues of Greece, if you think that something similar (partly) set in Romania might tickle your fancy, http://www.gutenberg.org/files/17972/17972-h/17972-h.htm (Round about the Carpathians, by Andrew F. Cross, Fellow of the Chemical Society no less :D) , the language might seem archaic at first ,but it should eventually help with your vocabulary or raise questions of etymology which I like to think as good and challenging ways to further your grasp of a language by placing it in the perspective of history and other vernaculars. N.B: this is the height of the british empire, so expect a bit of orientalism on the travelogue's part.

    webcomic recommendation:
http://www.kiwisbybeat.com/great1.html (134 pages, worth it though) PG rated
http://oglaf.com/ X/R rated, funny and NSFW/POS, click only if you're 18 or older and so on.
http://spamusement.com/ (abandoned & not a suggestion as such, but I cba posting in the link dump thread and 3 is a lucky number!)

[edit] just saw your teacher demanded slang/vernacular english. Just watch a couple of TV series, a movie or two and all the comic recommendations in this thread (good luck!)

You read some odd comics if they mostly consist of people using terms like 'waaazaaaaa'
Many of the comics mentioned make pretty decent use of the english language

Isn't the OP just being a little attention whore here? Is it actually really that hard to pick a book to read? There's like two books for each person in the world. Having a brainstorm over "interesting books" usually means you don't read, know or care that much about books to begin with. If this is a spot on, then you will find any book you pick equally educating and entertaining.
