Quick tools for admins/moderators

Here's something I quickly came up with:



It's basically a little popup that will give basic information about the selected player. To select the player, you would middle click on the player in game or their name in the players list. This would be helpful for admins to see if they player is trustworthy or not based on how many times they are banned. Also, this would also show if they player is new or not based on the date they started playing KAG. For example, if a player claims they are new and they didn't know they were griefing, you can quickly pull up this popup to see if they are telling the truth.

It also provides the basic administrating functions like Freeze, Kick, and Ban for those who don't want to use the hot keys. I have also notice that some people say that pressing F3+B to ban someone is difficult or even uncomfortable. With the popup, there's no need to memorize or perform hotkeys (although I think it should still be an option).

 

Wow, very interesting suggestion! Middle clicking on the player themselves ingame would probably be better, and it should only be doable in spectator mode. I don't think seeing how many times a player has been banned or kicked is currently possible but this would be by far the ideal solution.

 

Is there a way to differentiate ping bans and administrative bans? I think this is an important consideration before tarring somebody with an "I'm bad" tag.

I fear that if you can't tell the difference, people would be more fearful than they already are of joining longer ping servers. I'd miss my Aussies and Kiwis!

 

This is only a basic concept, I didn't work out the specific details. I think only administrative bans should count since ping ban isn't something people have control over.

 

Are those even ping bans? Those should be ping kicks.

Oh, they ban you for 30 minutes. I see now. Yeah those shouldn't count at all.

 

There is no information for how times a person has been kicked or banned yet, but I hope this will be implemented in the future.

 

Ask Verranazo if he can put this on his list of Spectator tweaks, maybe he can do it.

I don't get how adding bans and preventing team-switch griefing is so difficult? I program (not games) and even I could fix this issue in 5 minutes with a couple lines of code.

Pseudo code (for non coders) for anti-griefing;

When player switches team voluntarily {
add 5 minute timer
}

If timer is > 0 {
Change display of "Team Change Button" to display:none
}

Bam, fixed. No more switching teams and keg griefing the other team.
Pay me monies.

 

How is this related? The game already has banning and it also has auto-balance. This suggestion is to make it easier for admins to some basic player information and provide quick ways to access basic administration tools.

 

Why shouldn't players be given this option as well?

The banning in this game, although being improved, is a joke, and a preventable one at that. I can't tell you how many times ive seen someone switch teams, blow up a base and then switch back before a vote is even raised.
