Build 998 - modding fixes & spec cam improvements

    This is a maintenance patch, just fixing a few issues.

    I couldn’t fix some of the crashes people are experiencing. I need more information that’s why the crash reporter will now provide me with more info on the crashes. So if you get a crash send it and I’ll try to help.

    Verra made some nice tweaks to the spectator cam. Shouldn’t cause nausea now :).

    This patch fixes a big issue modders were facing. The file matcher in scripts was soft matching wrong files when using mods. These issues should be fixed. To fix it I had to make numerous changes, namely:

    - sprites and sounds are not loaded randomly when there’s a couple matches - the best one is picked

    - if you want to play random sounds use blob.getSprite().PlayRandomSound(“Pluck”) which will play Pluck01 or Pluck02 or Pluck03

    - the file matcher takes the file extension into consideration and searches for the proper extension even if you didn’t provide it

    The spectator camera actually seems even more annoying than before. After every death it zooms all the way in on my corpse, freezes there for 5 of my 9 respawn seconds, then if I zoom out (and only if) it will let me move it around freely. Very annoying.

    PlayRandomSound doesn't seem to look through mods for sounds.

    As mentioned earlier, the new death cam is even worse than the previous one. I would really like it to be such:

    1. When you die, it just doesn't focus and wait anywhere. Stays where it was the moment you died and then is free to control during your death time.
    2. A text is displayed on screen: You have been killed by ...
    2. You can see during this time the name of the enemy players when you hover your mouse cursor over them.

    The best thing of the spect camera now is how it follows a player by clicking on him if you're at spectators.

    I think there appealing to a wider audience. You see this is known as a 360 spec cam. You were probably shot in the face by a archer that quickly turned around.

    I still have a bug where I can not move the camera as a spectator during the time of building :QQ: Fortunately, that does not occur every time. Mostly it shows up on the map changes when I'm spectating.

    Anyway it is not as bad as it was. BTW it would be awesome to see in the next patch that the bug associated with kegs and bedrock is fixed :heart:.

    I kind of wish for an active kill/death list that keeps it updated, showing all who have died and who caused it.

    Right now it's a pain trying to keep looking in the upper, right hand side. I also don't know if you can press home to see a longer list, but during battle, and the over all color scheme of it, it's hard to pick out specific words.

    I would prefer the K/d list actually show a constant of the last 6 who had died, with no fadeout over time. So if nobody dies for 10 minutes, you can still see who were the last 6 people to die. Useful for those hectic matches where someone gets crushed after griefing a tower or just if you want to see who died 5 seconds ago without it vanishing before you can blink.

    Actually no, that was just a thought. What I actually want fixed, in order is...

    Respawn timer glitch when switching spawns in ctf/tth/everything
    Broken killcam as of this build
    Stabbing/Slashing with Keg and Friends
    Archer 3 hearts (lol)
    Knight Shield Climb fixed
    Knight Infinite Wallclimb removed (Though this is almost an "unintended feature" and it's actually fairly balanced IMO)
    Admin fixes
    Etc.

    Just reiterating this from a separate thread where klokinator also complained. I can reduce the time it's frozen on your body, however the spinning camera is caused when you join a modded server such as jeepjeep that rotates the camera then join a default server, because default servers don't have scripts that affect camera angle this causes the angle of the camera to be stuck oddly.

    Yeah I knew about the jeepjeep thing, I was just making a funny :P

    The problem is that nobody wants a frozen killcam. We want the camera to do exactly these things:

    1. Guy snipes us
    2. we die and the camera doesn't zoom in or lock, it just stays in the same spot when we die, or pans towards the enemy player 0.50 seconds after we die.
    3. This can be interrupted with an arrow press or mouse click allowing us to move the camera around.

    Zooming all the way in is awful, makes it even harder than before to see anything.
    Freezing is awful, you halved our 9 seconds of freecam strategy time for deciding what we need to do on respawn and limited us to 4-5 seconds.


    TBH I was fine with the "killcam" two or three builds ago, before the fancy "gotoenemy" effects. The only thing I wanted improved was the spectator camera, so that it would show names of people on hover/by default in spectator mode, and also the part about following people when you click on them was a great addition too imo.

    The killcam though, not really feeling it.

    I don't think you speak for the entire community so "We want the camera to do exactly these things" is a valid thing to say. I'll take what you said into consideration, but I don't think everything you said is correct.

    To be fair to Klok, I can't really think of a good reason to freeze/lock the camera. It's not like jumping to spec doesn't give you a similar (if not better) ability to take a peek behind enemy lines.

    Also, the panning to the person who killed us is cool, but as the outcry against the sudden 'jerk-to-killer' setup highlighted it's kinda nice to be able to see your dead self/mentally register that you've died before the camera moves over to focus on your killer.

    Also, also, sometimes I really don't care to see who my killer was and would rather spend my time dead getting an overview of the battle so I can plan where I'll focus my efforts next life; this would suggest that being able to gain control of the camera at any point (by trying to pan it via mouse or keys) would be kinda flaming useful.

    Just sayin'. :3

    You can control the camera at anytime after the freeze part is finished. Make up your mind, people flammed me because they didn't like the camer jerkiness ;) So I added the pause... which is how the original camera was. The original camera stopped before letting you move it for a few seconds. Like I said I'd be happy to shorten the time it freezes, but don't jump to conclusions that you don't have the ability to move the camera. You can easily move the camera where ever you like with the movement keys or by clicking to the position you want it to go to.

    It would be nice if the camera didn't zoom in during the freeze, as it still looks jerky like that. (and it would be nice if a mouse click could get you out of the freeze)
