Builders didn't thats who. Or knights, but they are OP enough as it is.

What I would like to see implemented into KAG is the ability to throw a lantern, the light that a builder can create, at a building. As it breaks, it can set wooden objects on fire.

    Makes logical sense.
Gives the builder a nice little buff.
Gives more purpose to actually using a lantern, which, is not used that often.

    Thoughts?

    Nope, do not want!

As builders hardly go to the front-lines anyway(a talk for another day) I wouldn't expect to see this used as much as archer fire arrows. Also it could cause a LOT of accidents, when building I tend to throw lanterns all around the place to get them where I want them(normally when building in sandbox mode or Roleplay) so that would cause issues.

I love mishaps. It makes the game more funny. A bit of a shame they removed damage from falling trees if you ask me.

But lanterns are very cheap. In order for that to work they would have to cost coins...
I dont think it's going to work.

Yeah let's give people the chance to grief bases and cry "oops accident" and get out of a ban. Brilliant. At least if an archer shoots a fire arrow or a knight drops a keg you can be pretty sure it was griefing. This is so laughably abusable and easy to cop out of that I don't even want to consider the possibility of it being ingame.

Also lanterns are goddamn cheap. I use them ALL the time, usually getting 3 of them and placing them underground where we mine next to ore so people can see it easily. If someone can't be assed to make a lantern then they deserve to flail around in the dark.

Im not talking about like when you just drop it, or anything like that. Im talking about like you throw it, like, 3 stories down, and a pretty good distance.

What'd be a much better idea and to avoid grief by people "accidentally" breaking lanterns would be to make it so when archers put their arrow in the bow they can run over to a lantern and have the arrow become a fire arrow, with this; it' d make archer towers or archer dens alot more effective with a lantern up close and ready, you could start having a barrage of fire arrows and start making the opponent run around like wild geese. It' d be a funny sort of tweak to make the game change.

This is a very neat concept. Would just throwing the lantern against a wall burst it or would there be a key assigned to breaking the lantern?

Hmmm. Well, I really didn't think this would be brought back up. I don't know if a button would work that well, but it would really be the only way to keep griefers from going "Oops! It was an accident!" Only thing is, people can already do that with any other item in the game with destructive power, including fire arrows.

Having a button that allows it to break when thrown from a certain height could work. Or just have a set height for it to break could work just as well.

E-> Open Lantern (Exposed flame, will light building on fire if it makes contact, closes after 5-10seconds)

Now you can only light it on fire if you try?

Either way, it seemed like a good idea at one point and was going to be a use for them IIRC, however fire arrows seem like enough fire to worry about without having to make bases more complex and possibly large.

  13. It's just a griefing hazard!!!! For people that claim they did it accident when you look 2 minutes later the whole base is gone •_• not a very good idea all though it might be fun the lantern would have to cost a lot more

just make the lanterns cost 20 coin AND like fire arrows you would not be able to set your own stuff on fire
surprised no-one thought of this in 5 seconds:huh?:

Meh, this looks like a pretty good idea in my opinion, those noobs shouldn't be building out of wood anyways, and if an ennemy builders even get that far and survive to burn them workshops, well he's some badass guy. If the lanterns get some of the boulder physics it could work quite well (replacing the block breaking by wood burning) But if they would implement this into the game they should really make the lanterns more expensive. On the same topic, why would builders be the only one that knows how to trowh a lantern ? are they trained in lantern trowhing since childhood ?

EDIT : Hum ... didn't realised the last message was from wednesday

There's a reason that fire isn't available the instant the game starts, for an incredibly low price, fyi.

Oh, good, I was worried i was agreeing with way too many of your posts today.

Archers have a small enough niche as is. Burning down wood buildings is one of the few roles only an archer can do, at 30 gold for 2 fore arrows or 10 wood (or whatever it is) for a lantern that any class can throw, that really wont be helping matters.
