So, in my opinion, one of the most annoying things in the game, is when a knight runs around in TTH with 12 burgers in their inventory, snorting them any time they take damage and instantly healing. Hearts, fishies, grain and steak can be just as annoying.

What i propose, is that healing items should work over time, not instantaneously.

Think of it like reverse burn damage. Every "tick" (about as long as burn damage ticks are now), the player would heal 1/4 or 1/2 of a heart, slowly reaching the current value of each healing item.

This could be interrupted by taking any amount of damage.

This would go some way to preventing people from just hoarding healing items and being virtually invincible on the battlefield, as they would have to back off and regroup in order to regain any health (unless they're good enough to just not get hit).

Comments and discussion are welcome, tell me what you think! ::):

makes sense. I dont feel like i see the inn or grain abused much in CTF -- Maybe hearts though

It's more of a complaint for TTH, because burgers and stuff. Though fishies are pretty common in some CTF maps and they work the same way basically.

It's especially annoying for me, as an archer, as i can't kill a knight instantly. Thus they could eat something and heal each time they're about to die. It's not -as- much of an issue in knight vs knight combat, as you can't eat something in the middle of being double slashed.

I've seen it done several times, actually. All you have to do is jam the spacebar with only healing items in your inventory. They get used instantly instead of lighting a bomb.

... Which can be terribly, terribly abused.

Hmm, I would have assumed the stun prevented it. That's... really annoying.

Yeah, I feel like what was suggested in the OP would go a long way towards balancing that.

I agree with OP. One thing that annoys me is that when a knight kills me he gets a heart, which negates the arrow I just fired at him. Wish hearts didn't drop so often.

The grains are annoying. Knights can just stab for full health and archers can't use the grains for healing!

    That's fuck...

  9. Heal over time is a great idea, in my opinion - that's the way that you healed back in Classic, you'd go to a Quarters, pay/not pay a few coins to heal 0.5 hp / second.

makes sense. i forgot thats how it was. doesnt using the quarters promote forward building too? it just seems like a better mechanic all around. the quarters as they are now are useless aside from chickens. i hardly ever see someone buy a meal to heal cause theres usually enough people dying to heal yourself from hearts not to mention the plethora of other full heals on the map

  12. I think you might find it has higher-level support than you think!

Just saying, I rarely use food. There is enough hearts on the ground dropped from enemies and teammates to keep me alive for the most part, mainly because I play CTF>Anything Else. Food can be useful, but overall, adding this to the entire game would be a bad idea.

CTF is a bit more fast paced than any other mode. Having the insta heal of food is what is needed for that gamemode. Take that away and it is just another knight nerf; knights need the food more than anyone else. If you can't use the food instantly, theres no point.

I can agree that for THH it may be the better choice since gameplay is a bit more slow than CTF, but in the end it is still just another knight nerf. I am not saying it wouldn't be a good thing to add, I just don't think knights need another nerf right now.

In the end, it could be OK for THH, but I really think CTF shouldn't have it.
