Make archers swim faster

    Archers in water equals death. They are nerferd by not being able to grapple as far, arrows having less damage potential, and die to drowning quicker than any class. I think that a slight speed boost in water would even things out. I normally wouldn't care about this, but as map that has any water turns into a giant ocean( especially with balistas the way there are), but it makes playing an archer frustrating.

    Would want, it's practically impossible to go faster in water with your grapple. Arrows are very hard to hit without doing 1/2 a heart.

    Swim close to the bottom and spam your grapple at the right angle, even though grapples are severely reduced underwater you can still sometimes outrun knights

    Doesn't change the fact that Archers are unnecessarily sucky in water.

    This would be a nice buff.

  5. Knights can double slash and catch up to you easy still, so potato's suggestion is useless.

    you have your grapple hooks to get out of just about any fuckup now. Is there no terrain where you believe it's fair that archers should be vulnerable? We're talking about aquatic archery here. Think about that for a moment.

    We're talking about a guy in heavy armor swinging a sword around in water. Think about that for a moment.

    Don't even try to argue realism in a game like KAG. Seriously.

    We have had this discussion before in the archer general thread.

    Basically the TL;DR of the 100+ posts is:

    Deal with it. Archers are not changing.

    I honestly think giving archers (and builders) a small speed buff both in water and on land would be a good thing.

    Honestly water combat is sluggish and frustrating enough, and archers are invulnerable and frustrating enough.

    Yeahhhhh, no.......

    There are VERY few situations were an archer can not out run a knight, deep water is one of these, shallow water is not.

    When the majority of games with any amount of water turn in to oceans, it sucks to be an archer. This would be an easy to implement buff that would make life a little easier for archers.

    The really harsh thing is that archer's grapple not only moves slower, but drags them slower too! Add that to the fact that knights still get the speed boost from slashing totally unhindered and knights are the more mobile class in the water. It seems to be a trend in KAG, Archers are the mobility class on paper. If you have an archer on a flat surface, he outruns the knight. Add in all the games factors, water, chicken gliding, bomb jumping, catapults, knights not worrying about fall damage, now people want airships, suddenly the knight is the most mobile class and the most powerful.

    And in any game where the balance is perfect, the map gets kegged into an ocean, yeah. And it's these matches with good balance that little things like not being able to move faster in water can make a huge difference overall too.

    I don't get why the grapple is so messed up by water in the first place. Sure, it makes sense for it to be slower, but couldn't it also get shot further in water? Maybe twice the range? That could solve this, no?

    The problem is that it fires slower AND pulls you slower.
