What is a small change that could improve the current build drastically? [1236]

    You can get stunned through blocks, it doesn't matter which. I do that often if a builder is trying to dig in and the block thickness is just 1-2.

    I think fire should be more of a thing. Molotov cocktails that can be thrown and set people on fire without setting wood ablaze (or at least not burning it down) would be awesome. Give archers mine arrows and give knights molotovs. It would probably require balancing, but it would be awesome if knights could utilize fire.

    I think that we should go with Klok's idea in the Classic Enhanced mod for Release, where throwing lanterns out of a catapult will set fire to anything that it finds. I think that Lanterns need more use overall, as they are only good for being able to yell at teammates for illuminating a tunnel into their base, or showing the inside of our super secret base (or just empty space).

    I'm running late today but I wanted to post this, I apologize if these things have been suggested, I'll go through the whole thread tonight.

    1. I had a conversation a few months ago with someone.... I can't be sure maybe @Skinney? Whomever it was suggested that builders should not be able to see the surface when tunneling in the dark the same way we can't see them down below without light. Little holes to the surface would only illuminate part of the surface map, etc etc. I think it's an amazing suggestion to mitigate the horrendous tunneling "strategies" that have saturated kag.

    2. Knights ::): - Besides the prominent lag I've been experiencing, which can make it hard for me to accurately gauge the state of combat, Knights feel pretty balanced, and it's fun! Shields feel small and unreliable, but nothing is perfect and I'm happy with where the class is right now.

    3. Archers ::): - I think it's good, it's not a class I play but Knight on Archer combat feels good. Sometimes I feel that bomb arrows are too powerful (3 bomb arrows can take down a structure from the outside too quick for my tastes) but other then that I enjoy the challenge of fighting good archers. It's not easy but feels good when you can catch one.

    4. BUILDERS !!! - Something has to be done. The endless battle builder zerg spam just absolutely ruins games. They can move so fast and spam blocks so fast it just becomes an annoying hassle to dig these rats out and clean up their spam, and most importantly it adds no strategic or technical value to the game. You can gather 500 wood in a matter of seconds and spam the enemy base to your hearts content. Something this easy to do should not cause so many pointless headaches. Builder game play should reward builder skill, not mindless dumb spamming tactics. My suggestion is reduce builder movement rate and/or build time. I don't want battle builders punished with a nerf, they have it hard enough as it is, but these kamikaze builders are out of control and straight up ruin games. There's no incentive or payoff to be a technical battle builder in current kag.Unless a ticket counter mode is implemented so lives actually matter in kag, it's only going to continue to be a problem.

    P.S. Battle builder is the hardest gig in kag. You are responsible for forward advancement, map control, workshop building, repairs, choke points. In a linear game mode where the only way to win is to move forward, to push all the time, with all cost and no reward, it's always going to feel like a horrible chore.

    In ticket mode, @Strathos made battle building a variable art form, once upon a time. It's that type of game play that should be rewarded, not what is rewarded now. It's all backwards.

    5. TICKET MODE !!! - I will always hold the opinion that tickets were the best feature abandoned from Alpha. It keeps players honest and mindful to not be reckless and wasteful with there lives, it helps games reach an actual conclusion instead of 4 hour games followed by a stalemate nextmap, and nothing is Beta is more exciting then the last stand and final combat conclusions we use to experience in Alpha. Ultimately I feel that the abolishment of tickets has hurt kag's ability to reach it's full potential. But opinions vary I suppose.

    That's all I got. In summation Kag combat feels really good and is a lot of fun!

    But Rat entombing tunnelers and kamikaze builders need to be chopped down at the knee. It's simple dumb tactics that needlessly disrupt the flow of the game. Simple dumb tactics should not be rewarded. I apologize if that's harsh, I couldn't think of another way to word it.

    Come on, but I like the builder spamming, or I like watching people doing it. Its hilarious how people fail to kill builders like that. But anyway, you have to be a skilled builder to do that, which not everyone is.

    Dude, minearrows are the best idea ever LOLNO.

    Its already been suggested, and moved aside by geti. Archers and Builders are OP. I don't want knight to have another bomb either. Water bombs are enough :>:(:

    @Vidar I like the idea of tunnelers not being able to see the outside. I think this can be improved by making players on the surface only see a few blocks down, that way you'd be able to use lanterns without the enemy seeing them. I think that tickets, corner fixing, and shield buffs would make this game so much better. Your input is greatly appreciated in this thread!

    I wish fire arrows didn't spawn fire after being destroyed. Sometimes it's possible to respond in time to break the arrow, but it does nothing, contrary to balance and intuition, and you have to have a water bomb or bucket with you no matter what.

    People would still know that tickets are being used and they would play more cautiously as a result.
     
  20. Well, tickets could prevent long and pointless games, where a team advances for half a minute, then loses ground again.
