    Changes build 200-203

Please discuss the implications of this build for the Builder.
I will update the Class Overview aswell with information from this thread.

If you got something interesting enough to be worth its own thread, do not forget to put the current build number in front of the thread name.
This thread is not for specific structures, please post pictures and designs of useful structures into individual threads, this makes discussion much easier and outdated designs are easy to see (think like posting maps in the map forum).

    Thank you.

Too many people forget that catapult can be a damn effective massacre killing weapon if placed correctly. It can be placed better than this, but it's just an example. You can make a small building to cover it too, but the point is that usually it doesn't need to be nothing more than a little pit:

Monsteri, I don't exactly understand what you are trying to say... I think you mean that you can build catapults with a little wall in front so that you can destroy whatever is in front of it without getting attacked?
Could you maybe crop out the actual picture a bit more instead of posting a complete screenshot?
Also what is the actual construction you are showing us here? the little wall in the front + catapult? Could you maybe refine the structure a little more and edit the post with the refined version? (Read: Putting stone blocks on the bottom so that people can't dig in, maybe heightening the wall a block if possible?)

Don't get me wrong this is a good idea, but is it an actual construction? Note that this forum is not only for constructions obviously but for anything builder related, so its completely fine.
The title kinda implies that this is supposed to be a construction but it reads more like its simply a guideline/hint for builders. Kinda like "you can do this too". Which is completely acceptable. I am just a little confused what you are trying to tell me.

Anyways I will add this to the class overview once I get to the builder.

I think its actually possible to put a roof over a cata in a way that its very well sheltered from those pesky lobbing archers.

    Roof is possible.
It's a -good-to-know- trick, you need nothing more than a flat land / slowly raising ground to make a decent murder section. You of course need some teammates to protect you, but that's usually not an issue.
    Few more examples:

ah now I get what you are talking about :), yeah that is truly a good to know trick and something that is used way too rarely.

I think going for quick, low-ressource frontline buildings is the way to go. Fortififying high ground often leads to immediate victory. For example I like to build structures where you can drop down or shoot down through gaps so that friendlies have a lasting advantage over the enemy. Nothing's more depressing than seeing knights rush into their death over and over again without builders doing anything with the captured ground.
I know this may be a little too much for public builders... But if you even got one friendly knight sticking up for you you can roam free like no tomorrow.
Also I HATE IT WHEN 5 BUILDERS ARE MESSING WITH THE SAME STRUCTURE ON BUILDUP (caps for truth) it only leads to incredibly unfunctional buildings. Seasoned builders will know what I am talking about -_-

    I feel for you, brah.

Fortifying a hill is the most effective way of building, if we don't mention skybridges.
This is what I tend to do if I have no much resources:

    screen-11-11-13-23-14-43.png

And this if I've got lots of resources:

= Gained victory for your team (unless your team won't attack or the enemy builds a skybridge)

Curious, what do you guys tend to build for fast forward fortifications on maps like Capture the Bacon where it inevitably turns to cheese because of all the bombing/breaking with unlimited lives?

I was being very annoyed with builders who wouldn't move forward when I kept capturing huge sections of land and holding it for a long time, but then I realized when I switched to builder that I couldn't even think of something effective to build myself, so I tended to just spam drawbridges to keep my guys going through easier and that was pretty much it.

    doors

wood is pretty much the only thing available after a while on CTB. stone is valuable and worth scavenging

@Monsteri: That is a very solid structure, please crop it and present it in its own thread too, I would like to put it in the Overview. Both in one thread is fine, they are essentially different iterations of the same building. Don't forget to give it a cool name :p
    DO EEET!

Yeah this is a problem, thats why not everyone can simply be a builder suddenly and "build it himself" its really not that easy to think of a useful strucuture from the top of your head most of the time. Partly reason for this whole subforum is to share ideas on exactly that topic.
Also something simple like monsteris structure there works fine (maybe with more fortified walls if there is lots of bomb throwing).
If you don't really feel like it you can always spam my "linepiece" structure, possibly the easiest structure there is and it "saves" process easily.

On an unrelated note: Do you guys think the scaling maptimer is too short on low player nmbr maps? Its a server side variable, I think... so its the server owners not putting enough time in... kinda sucks when you start out with like 50 seconds... merely enough to build a very simple base around the tent. Thoughts?

Why has no one posted about the smaller bomb/arrow/quarter combo building? Don't tell me no one knows about this.

Start building at the right side, complete the quarter, then add the arrow and bomb

Cross over discussion from the Knight subforum that concerns us:
How high is high enough? Making structures bomb-jump proof!

Here is where it came up by contrary CLICKEDY!

And here the direct quote as reference:
    Anyone got input on that?

You can add more than one bomb and jump higher for sure. Ive done it both on purpose and on accident. Most times you are better off saving your own extra bombs for throwing, but nothing stops you from quickly dropping one of your bombs on the enemys and using it :D

I know but I actually meant building wise, how to make buildings jump-proof if knights can potentially jump 20 blocks high!
