Servers don't ban people for high ping

It's annoying to not be able to play for 10 minutes due to a random spike - please remove the ban on high ping thing.

Kick is obviously acceptable, however.

 

This is a server-side issue I believe, and the server owners set it to whatever value they want. You'll have to talk to individual admins of each server.

 

if you are constantly having 400 ping then a ban is appropriate. but i agree that if your ping is 33 and someone trips over your internet cable, then there should be no ban. however this would require a change in kag net code -> very unlikely

 

You don't get kicked for "random spikes". You get many warnings before kicking. This means your ping is constantly over the limit or it spikes all the time which is the same thing.

 

This is annoying as crap. I play the game just fine and my internet spikes constantly. So after a like 10 minutes I get banned. I'm not lagging anyone in the server and no one is having problems with my ping, but still I get banned. Its ok for games to have this, but the thing is ping bans are a default setting. Unless a server owner manual changes it the game still bans off of ping. I can't tell how many games I played, helped my team a lot, and then boom BANNED.

 

I can't agree with this too much because I get good ping on every single server... But if you have an unacceptable high ping that alters the gameplay of others, then yeah you should automatically get kicked, I don't mind when it happens to me.

 

It doesn't alter the gameplay of others though. I have had my ping jump up to 1000 on a server that doesn't kick and no one complained about lagging. Also in this game the lower ping the better so if your ping is jacked up wouldn't you make the game better for other players?

 

It does because the connection between the lagger and the players would be crappy, then the lagger would be slow moving and impossible to predict their movements because they would be basically jumping from one place to the other. And I'm quite sure with all games/connection wares that lower ping is better...

 

Wheras from the lagger's point of view, instead of himself jumping all over the place, it's everyone else who is. Ever noticed how it's 99% of the time the lagger with the very high ping that has a terrible score? I'm kind of OK with people who really hate this have it on, but I think most server owners just don't really care, if it was just set so that it was a default "off" when hosting a server. It would also be nice if you could turn it off on at least 50% of the official servers...

 

If there isn't a ping limit you still get disconnected if your ping rises too high.

 

"Too high" meaning connection to the internet completely lost, aka, when you're ping goes to infinity, not when you get to 300 for too long

 

If you start to see people floating around best to exit as fast as possible prevents a ping ban

 

But I don't want to be banned (or forced to leave) because my ping is bad! Is that really so unfair? Do you really think that people with a disadvantage should be kicked off the server - because of the disadvantage?

 

you all shall just try joining the EU servers and play purely vs AUS players
i'll see how you will said *no pingban, thrushields, multijabs, and extralong swords are fine!*

 

all my servers - juggernaut, iko's ctf, fun ctf, and some others don't have pingban, and i've never saw any AUS play on it, they have different timezones. americans, though, like my servers, i guess.

Didn't you read what I said? When you are fighting a lagger, you get one person doing through shields, multi-jabs, and extra long swords. But when you ARE LAGGING, it's like everyone else, I repeat, EVERYONE ELSE, is doing the through shields, multi-jabs, and extra long swords.

 

still annoying asf, also most of laggers just have big ping, notpingjumps, so it only problems for players
