So today i logged in to kagforum and found this about my thread being closed for hacking.
Supposedly the rubber ducky usb is hacking tool. Well its not, if you don't believe me here's why.

The rubber ducky is a key stroke injection tool. Key stroke injection means you write a script then load it onto the ducky and the plug the usb into a computer and it executes those keystrokes. For example
    Code:
    Delay 5000

    Gui r
    string notepad
    enter
    string hi
Would open notepad and type hi.

The rubber ducky is NOT used for hacking or malicious activity.

    Edit:

It seems furai deleted my thread.

Well clearly it could be, but that's besides the point. I'm not really sure why it was deleted, to be honest, as I don't believe it is intentionally malicious, but maybe the admins don't agree with its possible functions. It's like posting a link to cheat engine; it can be used for non-malicious purposes but most assuredly it isn't.

Well even though it is able to be used maliciously what could you do using a couple of keystrokes i mean it cant "emulate" a mouse so the most you could really do is like open cmd and then delete system32. But even that is unlikely because you would need to type in the login password which i cant obtain using the USB Rubber Ducky.

I thought that PMs are private but I see I was wrong.

Maybe he believed that the KAG forums did not need to be informed of this devious device.
I'm pretty sure it's like a portable, convenient and "in the right hands" harmless .bat file?

It all comes down to opinion, I think it's cool you shared this with the community and that it was a little OTT that it was deleted.
At the end of the day though an admins opinion is the "final" you could say, perhaps this thread will shed some light.

    @War_Crab

I'm currently deliberating with the mods and other admins on this but, just to give you an indication of the direction discussion is going, it's fairly unlikely that your rubber ducky thread will be restored. While you're correct that it isn't strictly a hacking tool, the feeling is that allowing anything
is problematic, simply bc the blowback if something posted on the forums lead to badness (here or elsewhere) would be... unpleasant.

I realise that from your standpoint we're trampling all over your excitement/enjoyment of something relatively harmless; but please also see it from our side things (i.e. where we have to act, first and foremost, for the good of the forums & community as a whole).

I hope this helps clear things up a little? If not, please shoot me a PM and we can discuss it more. Also, either way, I'll let you know the final outcome once we reach a decision.

    Yours,
    FBB

    They effectively are.

Like, literally the only way to view a PM--without being invited to said PM--is to access it via the forum server's database; which is both awkward and something only Furai can do atm. And, honestly, why would he bother rooting through all the tens of thousands of convos unless there was a real need to? (e.g. digging out convo postings as evidence due to a court-order--not that that's ever happened, thus far...)

I think RadioActive was referring more to the fact that War_Crab took screencaps of his PMs with Furai and Galen, and posted them on here, construing it as the typical, "admin abuse that isn't admin abuse."

Just because you have a keystroke injector and plan on using it for good intentions, doesn't mean there aren't people out there who won't use it to give them a leg up in game.

Here's a quick example... Ever played Mega Man X2? On Morph Moth's stage, there's these little green robots that jump about and can attach themselves to X's body, causing fairly useless things like rapid dashing/rapid jumping without any player input, and something that can actually be used to great effect, which is rapid shots from the X Buster. I know tons of people who use these little things to blow through the section in which they appear.

So yeah. It was designed by the devs to be a malicious thing that hinders X's progress, but there ARE players who use it to effectively, "cheat," the game, so to speak.

Just sayin'. It's kinda the same thing.

While that's all fine and dandy about the whole, "personal opinion," thing, you still have to understand that the admins and moderators around here are trying to promote a safe and fun environment for players. Just because you VEHEMENTLY disagree, doesn't mean that you can keep bringing it up. You say, "exactly," although you must have ignored the rest of Legend's post, where he says that whether fortunately or unfortunately, an admin's choice and actions are final.

@War_Crab , you have to know that admins and devs are always trying to protect the community and trying to make those forums a safe place for everyone.
They were taking preventions (and that's their main job ! ).
I believe they knew about some of your old activities (that hacking thread , sharing porn links...) so they preferred to avoid what could be used as a "double-edged weapon".
and this could be dangerous too (I suppose you already know that) , a malicious thing isn't essentially "deleting System32" , you could use the same method you just mentioned to create a "worm" file using that notepad [inside the computer itself!] it's like a Trojan (or let's just say a bait) , I know that notepad could be very dangerous when used against the computer itself (without mentioning the "random closing and restarting, open random files, open a website ,...").
haha , very funny. If you could have access to CMD then let's say that you will have access to "netstat" , am I right? which means that you easily could know the "IP address and the open Ports" of that PC (they could be sync with the Hacker's PC through a Server) then you could just get all the passwords on that Machine (I won't write here the code , because unlike you I don't share such harmful things ::P: ) isn't this hacking? [this method is mostly used in hacking weak mails , I'm sharing this for anyone that doesn't know about it , to beware!]
well I know LOTS of stuffs about Hacking and I do think that Furai was right with his decision , this doesn't mean that I (or any other guy here) doesn't trust you actually I respect you (because I finally found someone that shares with me some "hobbies" ::P:) but seriously man this isn't the best place for it .
Lots of kids and "immature" people are watching those threads daily and you know that "net is a dangerous place" , just try to avoid those complications and post some things about the game , try to avoid anything (software or hardware) that could be abused by anyone (because you will be the one to be blamed then) I hope you think twice (or thrice) about what I just said ... any technological thing could be easily misused , but just try not to be the cause of that abuse ::): .
