[203] Knight: Bomb jumping guide - Featured in the Big Knight Guide

    Bombs blow up all other lit bombs around them, so you can jump MUCH higher if you bomb jump with 2-3 bombs instead of one. Although usually extra bombs are better used blowing up the enemy and/or their base.

    Oops never saw this/forgot about this. For sure Wyeth hit me up on gTalk.

    Anyways I did it again today and counted how high the wall was. Turned out it was larger than my previous estimate. I was counting quickly so I'd say I jumped anywhere from 20-22 tiles high with overshoot. Probably the max height is less than 30 but who knows.

    You could also increase the jump height by making the first one a midair bomb jump, but I haven't tried that yet.

    Man I remember when it was cause for celebration if you got 5 tiles up.

    I presume the midair one you'd have to throw the first really high in the air and catch it on the way down? Talk about difficult.. Or do you just mean jumping up when the bomb goes off? With the new jumping mechanics I can't seem to do jumping bomb jumps anymore, it does this weird pose rather than shield downwards.

    Lol what? I don't understand your first interpretation. Bomb juggling? I mean the latter. Jumping as the first bomb goes off.

    Lately I've been really liking the sideways jump bomb where you jump and throw to your side when the bomb is ~20 ish. Seems to be a lot more consistent and a little farther than an upwards jump bombjump I wonder if you could do two of those in succession.

    I never get tired of doing sideways jumps on the TDM servers. Some maps you can make it all the way to/back from the enemy flag.

    Ive done a double jump this way when an enemy bomb went off and set mine off as well. I easily flew into the edge of the map on my Rapid server when I did this. Im sure if you had an open and wide enough area you could get some insane distance.

    EDIT: I meant both bombs went off at once in the same place. Not sure if thats what you meant.

    No lol you had the same misconception in the other thread. By double bomb jump I am almost always referring to throwing down a bomb, lighting another, and bomb jumping with the first bomb, then bomb jumping with the second at the full height of the first. Two consecutive bomb jumps, back to back, right after each other. Not using two bombs for a single jump, but two different jumps.

    Yeah sorry don't know what I was talking about.

    If you throw it so late, how would you have time to light your second bomb? By the time you light it you would have landed already. I think the only way to do it in succession is to throw it down early and jump when it goes off, which rarely works anymore because when you jump and shield down your knight takes a weird sprite and you just blow up instead. I don't know what they changed but its a bit annoying.

    EDIT: No wait, it works. But it's much more difficult to pull off because if you jump and do shield down you come back to the ground really fast. Less air time means you have to time it even more exactly than before. I'm gonna try the superhero like this though.

    EDIT2: every time I try to do it with a bomb in hand it blows me up. Try it for yourself. If the same thing happens we might have to just stick with superhero without jump.

    A bit related so I figured I'd add this here, on test build the bomb will blow up in your hand if within a certain radius, just showing how to do it there (Must be 5? tiles from the bomb for it to work)

    I've managed to get much further, but I figure we should have fun and see how far people can get, with timing you can go from edge of map to edge of map (about 5 tiles on high on edge of map that is)

    @Neat: Jumping with the first bomb works. I've done it a couple times. It does add some height.

    @BlueLuigi: Good work, you are a certified hero jumper.

    If I do the super-hero and jump in the air above the first one, it blows me up, every time. I don't think i'm doing it wrong, because i'm doing this on sword fight so there's no lag, plus my sprite is in the correct animation, downward shield, so I shouldn't be blowing up.

    If I use one bomb on the floor and jump it works...

    Finally, I can do the super-hero in normal circumstances: not jumping above the first bomb. It doesn't blow me up. So this is really weird...

    After looking at the graphic I see why I couldn't do the double jump consistently, I was flinging myself the wrong way because I was too close to the bomb. Also, Contrary is a hero. Contrary is the hero.

    Also, for a single bomb-jump am I the only one that prefers to hold the bomb until it's about to blow and then throw + jump? It's less controlled, but you don't have to worry about people grabbing your bomb, and the fact that it blows up an instant after you throw it often kills people right in front of you that don't have time to react.

    And Fuzzy, spiked roofs. It's the future.

    I was trying to do this today in my modified sandbox game (modified to add the knight, unlimited bombs, and the random flat CTF map). There appears to be an inconsistency between the guide and my situation--when you have a bomb in hand and one explodes too near, then the bomb in your hand explodes at the same time. And I usually die but the important thing is both bombs explode.

    Thanks to BlueLuigi to showing a technique that works for me for lateral jumping, that is, you have to keep the bomb in your hand out of the explosion radius (maybe 7 tiles? I should count.) but have it hit your shield.

    I can also do a vertical jump, but in this case, it's accomplished by holding the up movement key instead of by positioning the bomb in the right place. I can go above trees but can't quite reach the top of a 20ish block tower. But I make mistakes.

    Anything else to try?

    What you are experiencing as told to me by Geti is the 'no lag' situation. When there is no lag for some reason (Doesn't make sense to me but what do I know) the one in your hand WILL be exploded by the one nearby.

    Now, if you want to practice doing it with NO LAG or against Henry, there is a radius that the initial bomb will blow up in (about 5 tiles), if you check the video I posted around here somewhere, it shows me doing it on the Henry unlimited bombs type.

    Curious: How do you get unlimited bombs via custom gamemode?

    Go to the rules and change the rules for the knight. It's in the scripts>rules. I just change swordfight to give me 99 bombs.
