[CTF/RDM] Nyan

    Today I tried convince Geti, that we need Nyan Cat class in KAG (if you never heard of it, just watch this video). To support this idea I started messing with maps.

    End result is quite psychedelic and map has very distinctive style, still in my opinion map is functional. Main spawn is behind cat, and exit is actually under the tail ;). Quarters, Bomb Shop and Arrow Shop can be easily fitted into spawn room without destroying anything. Rock/dirt is placed in layers, supposed to look like rainbow from original video. "Stars" on sky were made from dirt. Additionally thick layer of bedrock is on bottom of the map to avoid creation of bottomless pits. Name/Version is also visible on map file.

    At the beginning I indented to create only CTF map. I started with size 300x120 and had feelings that this can be too small for CTF. SirSalami suggested that I should keep this size, so map can be used also for Rapid Death-match. In the end I decided to create 2 versions, one for RDM and one for CTF with changes to both.

    Description: Map was resized to much smaller width and height. Gold was removed almost completely. Spawn room is also smaller. Tunnel was aided to spice things up - additional tunnel entry is available in the middle of the map.​

    I love the idea, and it looks good as a png.
    I tried the version you send in IRC in editor already and now I see in the new png some fixes so we should see the face which is great.
    Ingame the cat looks cool, the stars I haven't seen yet but I think they are nice, only the rainbow doesn't look that good but that's not your fault, it's just that KAG doesn't got those bright ingame-tiles.
    It's great and I'm looking forward to play it on any server sometimes.

    The lack of colors isn't the problem in this case. Palette is big enough to make good looking rainbow, dithering is also the option. The problem lies in the functionality of colors and in-game look is quite different than map file. So I picked in-game look and usefulness over fancy rainbow as compromise.

    Yeah that's good a map should be playable and I didn't meant that it's bad or something but I can't imagine a really good in-game-rainbow so you just did well.

    This doesn't work well as an RDM map. I removed the doors, added ladders and cata's to make it more friendly, but still this map consistently disconnects half the server.
    Pretty though.

    I removed doors on my server as well but I have played it many times and am not aware of it causing disconnects unless it just started happening with the recent build.
