    Well, there's games where you can only wield a shield...
    But mostly that's just The Lost Vikings.
    Actually, this game puts me in mind of a multi-player TLV.

    In Dwarf Fortress I like to have several shields per hand. Not sure does it still work in the current build, but in builds gone by you didn't suffer any, shall we say, "full handed" penalty, yet you still get the bonuses.

    Also one time I held a shield with my teeth. That was cool.

    ...now that's a good idea. Maybe not like how mapvoting works, but rather each player gets a +/- they can toggle for a proportional boost/reduction of build times. It would be funny if a whole team, upon the completion of their fortress, switched from + to - all at once (ie. a surprise attack!) ~~~ file under 'options for diplomacy'. Might factor into how the overmap plays out.
