I'm splitting off from "Archer Discussion" because I like organization.

It's a fun ability, but IMHO something is wrong if you need it to escape or if you can pull off an attack with it.

And also there's little discussion about how the archer works as an infiltrator. I'm not too skeptical about him being able to take out a knight in an open area, but combat like that isn't the focus of the game. For example, has anyone ever arrow-climbed into an enemy castle to disable a catapult? And do slanted walls prevent your entry?

EDIT Wyeth: Please read GUIDELINES before posting thanks.

If used right you can get the flag. But thats the problem alot of people dont seem to know what i mean when i say "Arrow climb"
and then we lose a vital person with no lives left.

When archers didn't have gimped jumps while charging, still had a decent short range fire rate, and weren't slowed down to molasses by trees, arrow climbing was a lot faster and fairly useful as well.

But no it has no use now.

Edit: In the past you could use it for all sorts of things. It was really useful for early game flag caps, you could use it for escaping enemy knights and getting up on enemy towers, you could use it in combat for doing Matrix style climb-up-the-wall-and-jump-over-the-enemy, you could use it for easy retreating (back in those days archers had a reason no to sit in the back of the base), you could use it to set up the stylish Charge-Stomp combo.

It might be usefull to get over the hill during the first charge. That is if the opposing team doesn't have a builder ready with ladders because then you will get a facefull of knight at the top.

I can't think of any situation where it is really relevant.

Damn, I honestly didn't even consider that. I mostly play as I knight and I can't remember a time when an archer even tried escaping me via arrow ladders. People don't know you can do that I suppose.

I've had it done to me loads of times, especially when builders forget to put team bridges on the other side of the wall, which is very often.

Oh yeah, and dont forget escaping traps.

This has happened so many times to me. Arrow climbing has saved my butt plenty times for this very reason.

    What a derp discussion... .
I always climb an enemy tower and spam arrows from the top. They usually don't make two ways to go through the wall so they are forced to climb and that may result in easy +4 kills with arrow spam (unless they have campers behind nearby trees or bomberman players)
Also and most important, you can escape from enemy traps and move easily around the crappy mountain map (since the builders in your team oftenly keeps minecrafting after the game started, not even making stairs, backup, walls...)

That's true as well, although any good builder will put one or two blocks as an overhang so you can't get over. It really does depend on your team. The only issue I've had with escaping sometimes is that I run out of arrows which makes me a sitting duck.

    On a completely unrelated note
    Lol at your post number.

I believe each arrow in a wall acts like a normal block of ladder for archers, but only when the arrow is shot no more than 45 degrees from horizontal.

So, basically if a block is occupied by an arrow, it can be climbed. Using that knowledge, it is possible to climb anywhere, but not always entirely practical.

As for the 1 block overhangs, you can get past them while arrow laddering as you go, but it's a bit trickier. Otherwise, any overhangs wider than that can be climbed by shooting in your arrows before you start climbing.

I see, so you would be able to climb ceilings if you were able to shoot the arrow at the ceiling horizontally enough that it counts as a ladder?

I'd then assume it's easier to climb a longer ceiling because you'd be able to get your arrows straighter?

It took time and I don't have at the moment good pc that support higher resolution videos...

PS. it's way harder then it looks and wouldn't use it in battle xD

Yes, you can climb ceilings as Miczu demonstrated. Also, Miczu, you are now a certified archer ;O

I use arrow ladders all the time when I play as archer. Climbing past 1 or 2 wide overhangs was a great way to freak out the enemy builders, and if I was lucky I could grab the flag (I've gotten so many flag captures as archer, some of my best were done in a single life, as soon as the game began). But to be honest I haven't played archer very much for several builds, and arrow laddering over enemy walls was much more practical when we didn't have the unit counter.
