Well, i'm not very good with traps and stuff, but I was thinking of making a trap that involves ignorant people walking into it without realising they're walking into a trap. Most newbies will somewhat avoid normal pit traps, but this is deceiving. In the heat of battle, people will see a door and think "yeah lets go this way and break it down!" so they break down the door, even with the spikes there they will not take any damage. Now once they are through the door though they cannot go back the other way, it will kill them if they try to. They can glide to the little platform in the middle of the spike pit and then realise.. actually, they're trapped. Then archers come up above them and manually kill them off or knights can get in with a little struggle through the right and throw a bomb down or something.

I realise this might actually kill teammates who are stupid enough to go the lower path, but the block to the farthest right should dissuade them from taking the path as its a bit of a squeeze to get in that way.

You know, this looks really interesting. To prevent people from just building over it though, I might make the left most two blocks (right above your character) higher so that it's more enticing to break down the door instead of using a couple of ladders to just go over it. With just two ladders, you can get over this trap and completely ignore, which would be faster. If you make it more difficult to go over, people will be more likely to want to break the door down and go through.

  3. Very interesting and probaly effective trap the only downside is it might take a while to build.

You can destroy it from the inside. You can't get out because of the spikes, but you can destroy their support. I would advise putting some more castle background around them.

But that is a trick as well, guess what happens if you manage to destroy the blocks?

(spoiler, death rains from above crushing all hope of escaping alive)

edit: that would only work if the background block right below the spike on the door wasn't there.

Hmm, how can I explain this...... What they can do, they can slide a little off the block in the opposite direction of where they want to jump, then move towards the direction they want and jump, being able to get on the platform.

Sorry for my bad explaination skillz. If someone knows what I mean and could explain better that would be great. ^-^

Also, making it higher would be good as others suggested. That would be a easy bombjump.

And where would this go on a map? On a base protecting the flag or on the highest peak of that map?

That spike on the top left prevent that though (unless you know the secret to not taking damage from spikes) because once you hit it, you'll be sent back into the pit and by then you'd probably die.

    What spike?

And plus, if your careful, it can be easy to avoid those. Unless you are very ignorant like Neat said.

Of those two spikes, the top one. I also did say that you can avoid taking spike damage in the first place if you know how. Of course there are still people who don't know how to, which is what I was talking about.

I guess if you want to make it harder to survive it, you could just put a spike on that block where you said you could land on.

Alright, you won that battle. :)

  11. Most people that touch spikes usually just panic then jump around and just get hit again so most people will probaly just die straight away.

You can't get out from right to left once you've destroyed the doors because the spikes stab you when you try and squeeze back through. The only conceivable way I can think of is using a charged attack, in which case you will still take one or two hearts. The spike pit is just there to make people commit suicide or allow you to snipe them from above into the spikes so they die easily. The main thing about the trap is that you can't get out easily but it's easy to get in.

If I was thinking harder I would have made it taller and use more stone backwalls, but I just built it quickly to express the kind of idea I was talking about. But yeah you can do that fairly easily, just spam backwalls and make the entrance taller.

As for bombjumping, if you remove one of the drawbridges from the middle (only put it there to kill people on the platform) and replace it with another stone block they can't bombjump out. It's almost like a prison.

The position can be anywhere you think they'll fall for it, so if you build it inlayed into a castle they might think "hey, we dont have to climb the castle, lets just go in this way" and yes, pubs are THAT stupid at times.

This is awesome. Absolutely genius Neat. I'm gonna try this one out during pre build. It might be a little fragile but that can be modified.
