[228] Aoki's The 30 Seconds Trap (customize-able)

    The 30 seconds Trap

    Simple effective trap design that you can build under 30 seconds!



    The "base design", depending on where you build them, the requirement are at least 210 stones (140 walls, 50 spikes, the rest back walls) and 100 woods for the basic;

    build this right next to some trees to hide the little surprises :)

    Customizations:

    1. Door (Red Circle) & Archer's Hole (Green Circle)

    5. OR why not build the basic design on top each other? DOUBLE TROUBLE LOL

    This design isnt about strongest unbreakable building, its more focused on speedy design to uphold a certain map location with the most simple and the less resources requirement for it. And on top of the simple "basic design", you can customize and add various other common design like archer nest, or even bunkers!!! (gonna test that bunker in the future).

    ^ if you do this in every doors, they will have really hard time getting pass it, and most of the times, die trying. The best thing about this Door traps, they are fast, easy to do than normal traps, and very effective. Just make sure there is no block below the Drawbridges so it forces people to jump over to get past.

    7 Jan 2012 - update from my observation: Alot people know about this door and mostly they still cant force through this unless they get help from a worker.

    PS: I dont know why my screenshot have white artifact in it and also my design is almost similar to killatron46's except that I'd rather keep it simple and clean and easy to remember...

    I find no flaw with this, except you could add a small 2x2 pit in the front by the wall. Standard but it's something I always add. Aside from that, nice job. I'm using this later.

    yes that's why I said, customizable, depending on where you build them, the only thing why I dont build pit in front is because people avoids pits, most of the times they will stop just before they step into the pits, that's why.

    Some still manages to get past this trap nevertheless Im not sure how but mostly with bombs aid. but 3 mixed spikes should be enough to kill a knight, the 1st jump, then fell into pit, and last jump will kill anything.

    The thing I really like about this structure is that it creates a very nice "base" for many other useful towers, you gave a few examples of how to expand it into a proper tower and that is very neat, because who would be able to build a fully fledged tower (not in pre-game/building phase) in one go?

    One thing I have to add though is you might want to put a door on the back avocado trap (similar to my dog house), because it IS possible to make it through there, just takes a little time.

    Nice design, I'll test it in the field for you! =P

    Yes that's works too, I didnt add the door in "base design" as an option for customize-able and I wanted to show what you can build as fast as you can that works effectively as a good trap, I was gonna add things about door but I'll blame procrastinating and being lazy about it lol

    I've just finished recording a video, building the "base design" only took you less than 30 seconds, currently converting the video to smaller size & uploading to youtube.

    PS: can I have this thread title changed from

    Update Bump (check 1st post), also from my observation, this design still works effectively as it should, but alot of dumb archer / knight love to camp near them making the drawbridges not returning to default and it will hurts allies. Well that problem seems to affect globally all designs though...

    people really need to learns to let the traps kill the enemies unless they got workers alongside...

    This trap does work great though with a couple archers on top and knights baiting from the bottom!

    what happened to me: a knight went camping in the lower door at the start taking a bit of damage but not dying. (i dont have an image) All the trapbridges were activated, making the trap dangerous.
    Knights were trying to get in but took alot of damage entering and since they got stunned by spikes they die. It barely took 8 secs for archers coming to the roof using trees and then they had it. builders came and it was done with that trap. many of our guys died trying to get the guy in the door and also from the archers getting free shots at builders. (it was pretty deep in our base.)
    I think if someone knows the trap it becomes too easy to exploit that way.
    I'm sure its not too hard to fix. Change the desing so its 2 blocks larger and remove one in the middle. this makes it safe when there is a guy in the door. also, getting OVER the trap is easy when its small like that, especially for archers. maybe a bit higher? or putting spikes on the roof?
    Also the "surprise" is not working very well cuz everyone knows that trap now

    I knew this coming sooner or later, what I meant by "suprise" that eventually if you build over the trees, the trees gets bugged (if chopped down) and they leave some kind leaf artifact behind that apparently, hides the entrance from normal eyes.. although Im not sure if it still does that in new build AND if it "visible" to other players... (gonna check this again for future design update)

    As for knight camping the lower door (the 1st entrance), that's where this customization works for;

    Our knight can jump over the trap, and try to kill the enemy on the other side without dangerously entering the trap by himself (which obviously a dumb mistake). As for archer, that small hole there.

    As for archer getting in through the tree, I admit I forgot to take a look deeper into that scenario and to counter this isnt that hard, a simple stone block on the edge topmost should fix that problem, or if anything upgrading it into archer nest and put some doors on top of the drawbridges in the archer nest;

    And honestly I understand about exploiting traps to counter trap your enemies, this have been popular ever since drawbridges was implemented every single time. Now if only people arent too dumb to just randomly jumps into a traps...

    Thanks for pointing out few details I missed and I hope I explains how to use this design properly, I will update a more detailed screenshot and proper explanation in the future but before that, I'll have to try and test every single detail before actually updating it.

    Here's my version. Your trap works pretty well in my opinion, most people don't comprehend it... Although this sometimes results in teammates destroying the avacado spikes because "ooh dangerous!" :huh?:
