Also, fans of Clonk may be interested in A Valley Without Wind, which looks somewhat awesomer, in my opinion.
It's still in Beta, and hasn't yet got multi-player, but it's definitely something worth keeping an eye on!

Babo Violent 2 was a good replacement to me for 2 weeks maybe. But then bored. Soldat cannot be replaced :(

Counterstrike 2D except you can build walls and turrets this game consumed my life for most of highschool so i'd say its a pretty damn good game.

I recognise Gunster... i might have attempted to get the game working in some way back in the day but ran into complications getting it to work and decided against it.

If u enjoyed soldat, there is a game called gang garrison 2 which is very similar but is a team fortress 2 demake. it uses 8bit cartoony graphics but has similar classes to team fortress 2 and is basically red vs blue

 

I thought that was quite a badly done demake :/ . Gameplay is extremely bland compared to the original, and the game has horrible netcode, making playing with anyone other than your local friends very difficult.

 

Quite true, but when he was looking for a game like Soldat, it was the first one that came to my mind. It has a fairly large playerbase and is quite popular so i figured, although not being the best game, it was suitable for the replacement of soldat if he wanted soldat like gameplay

 

Nah, Gang Garrison 2 sucks. I didn't like it at all. Masjin and OpenLieroX are much better.

 

Yes,open liero with weapon packs rule.
But can you even play multiplayer with that?

 

There are very few people playing this game...

 

Worms is a good alternative. It's not real time, but it's pretty much the best turn based multiplayer game.

 

Would be great if someone hosted(if possible) a match every now and then with Open Liero.
Cant play soldat due to some reasons but by the looks of it they both have the same style of gameplay.

 

Just when I have found a replacement in Subvein (I will play it for sure because it is great) it turned out that I am able to run Soldat again on my GNU/Linux OS :D So I'm back and happy again, if anyone would like to play with me I'd be glad :) CU in KAG and Soldat!
