[CTF][TDM] Super Mario Brothers 1-1

    Couldn't come up with an original name. Asymmetrical map, 218x15, modeled after the first level of the original Super Mario Brothers game, 16:1 pixel:block scale. If you have any suggestions to improve this map, let me know- I'll probably implement them. The screenshots will tell you everything else about the map.

    Adjusted red team's "castle," stone staircase and the "pipes" on blue's side to accommodate servers where players aren't allowed to be builders.

    1/10/12
    Added dirt background walls to support 2+ floating block areas
    Added a few stone walls to the mock castle around red's tent to reduce the chances of stone falling on player's heads as they destroy some of those blocks
    Added 2 different versions of the map; the first still features 2 layers of dirt above 1 layer of bedrock, the new version replaces those 2 layers of dirt with bedrock, so everything stays at the same height throughout each match
    Slightly modified the file names of each map, in case I get around to making SMB_1-2

    Questions? Comments? Suggestions? Leave 'em below, I'll be sure to get to 'em as soon as I see 'em!

    Won't those floating pieces fall as soon as someone breaks one piece of one? Also it would be interesting to have a version of this with everything made out of bedrock, although it would change the gameplay on the map a lot.

    1-2 would be neat, since it's underground. :D

    Bracket - I think so, yeah; I may reupload an all-bedrock version of this map, and may work on 1-2 in the future!

    Yes the floating blocks will need a dirt wall trail up to them and most of the way around them unfortunately.

    Good news, everyone! After waking up and doing some stuff, I've made the following changes:

    Added dirt background walls to support 2+ floating block areas

    Played on it on the /v/ server.
    I didn't think such a short map could be so epic, almost every 5 seconds someone was falling into the abyss.
    Good work.

    Thank you very much! I'm happy to say you're the reason I wanted to get into making maps in the first place; that amazing bridge-based map you made is the very first one I ever played, (And on one of the /v/ servers, too), and I still love it to this day.

    And now to upload the finished Super Mario Brothers 1-2 map in another thread. :3

    Edit: Kindly refer to the following link to understand why the current tag for this map should be removed. Based on the balanced layout of the map, I'd consider it equal parts CTF and TDM, so the title should be changed to reflect this.     RDM: Whats the deal with red team spawning inside a cage? Only takes 1 person to knock down red's ladders too.

    Because that's the castle at the end of 1-1. I thought it'd be appropriate. And, yep, that's normal. It's not too big a deal since every builder gets so much wood at the beginning of a match, another complete ladder attached to the side of that stone staircase will be built within seconds.

    Foxodi uses the map for his rapid deathmatch server. were the only classes are Knights and Archers.
