During construction time, I used to happily build an uber structure, but it was always ruined by derps. Always.

There's no way to avoid derps until we get a popular premium server, so I found a different way altogether. I teach the derps. I go knight, and go around yelling at the "slaves" about why what they built is awful and how they can fix it. When they see my gold name and intimidating premium head, they follow my advice right away.

I have herded the derps together, made them repent from their old ways, and I have gotten some legitimately amazing castles on it, and every time I do this, 2 or 3 derps learn a bit more. I am gradually improving the playerbase.

So what you are saying is you yell and everyone ignores you, all the while you are knight and wasting precious build time on jack shit. Way to go.

This is stopid, instead find good people and make a clan with them, play exclusively with these people when you can, learn who's good and who's not in general and learn to play with good members or what servers they play on so you know how to avoid the bad ones. Sometimes you'll 'stack' sure, but you won't be playing with idiots.

Actually they do not ignore me. I give them feedback and they apply it. Ever since I've done this I have not had to deal with derp castles because I always stop them in their tracks and teach them how to make it right.

Interesting, I've been cursed out about 3 times wasting my time doing this as I play archer recently. The sad thing is most of them admit they are new but still just backsass anyway, one of them on a low stone map loaded 400 stone (almost all our stone at base basically) into a cata and then proceeded to move it up, there were about 10 archers on the other team, within him putting it up it was down to 34% almost instantly, I grabbed it and saved it, he cursed me out, I explained, and put it back at base, he kept whining about just wanting to shoot it and not caring about it breaking, and I spent a good 5 minutes back and forth until some other newfag grabbed the cata, moved it up to the same area and it instantly was destroyed, I grabbed the 250 stone and built a proper room later, but he wasted all the mats. This is usually how I am greeted upon being nice to these sorts, you'll most likely run into them too soon unless you hit up the /v/ servers where I've noticed less of this in general.

You are flat out lying. Maybe 1 out of 5 times does the person remain calm ,not rage, and actually listen.

You just need to play on better servers I guess. It works for me most of the time, and when some guy is raging, everyone ignores him.

Yeah I just play on /v/. Its not derp-free, but has a relatively low derp rate for a server of its size and popularity.

So, you're the guy who stands in front of builders and blocks them from laying down blocks while distracting others with your words and spamming the emoticons? Awesome work.

Fixing newbie mistakes is always interesting. Mostly because I have to defend myself when they spam "KICK MOLE HES GREFIN !!!". I just try to impart my limited knowledge of the builder by example.

I laughed my butt off at this...
I've yet to actually see it happen, though.

Off-topic, but it always makes me smile when people call me, or Beef, or really anyone in MOLE MOLE.

"HEY MOLE, YOU ASSHOLE", when no one is actually named Mole on the server.

... The moment they make name changes available I might just switch my name. MOLE MOLE, anyone? >.>

I stopped reading there. It went well with the derpy noob in your avatar though.

Eh, in my experience, 1 in 5 people who I advise rage. Most people seem pretty willing to learn.

As much as I like you Bracket, I'm going to disagree. Most people either just don't listen or just rage. It's very rare for me to see people who actually listen to my advice. I'm also rather calm the first time I give someone advice, but if they repeatedly don't listen and continue doing a horrible job, I use one of two options (three if I'm have admin).
    1. I swap over to the other team and kill them (usually steam roll as well since the base is usually horrible)
    2. I leave the sever
    3. If admin, I'll freeze them (since that usually gets their attention) and warn them. If they continue making a base so horrible that it hurts your own team or if enough people want them kicked, I'll ban them.
Honestly, when I do see that one rare person that listens the first or second time, I feel so much relief and actually try to get to know them better.

    1 out of 5 rage

and 4 out of 5 don't say anything at all.

The people who do reply to me trying to advise them with sensible answers are like miracles.

OK. I probably exaggerated a little, I don't pay attention too much, but I think I also make good choices about who to advise.... and forget about all the instances when they didn't listen. Works so well. :D

You have to be careful sometimes. If the player has a dangerous number of xX Xxs in their name and begins tunneling through the base of your fortified tower to make doors, shouting at him will likely cause him to shout misspelled obscenities and, after arguing about his age, to go topple something and switch teams.

  20. This. I usually try to give advices to people who don't do stupid things, but it's really uncommon to see somebody like this. So it always ends with some noob who is unwalling his door hallway all the time and me telling stories about coidus with his mother.
