I made a GUI version of my CLI server config tool.

    How to use:
    • Put the KAGServer.exe into the same folder with KAG.exe, if you don't know where your KAG.exe is, it's probably in C:\KAG
    • All your maps should be in Base\Maps, and gamemodes in Base\Rules
    • After you are done configuring your server, you can save it by selecting Save from the server menu so you don't have to type everything again when you start your server next time.
    • You can add maps by dragging files into the mapcycle list, or by clicking the Add button.
If the program doesn't start, try installing .NET framework 3.5

I tested it with Windows 7 (64-bit), I have no idea if it works in linux (wine).

    Download here (only 34 KB!)

Source code (it's a zipped Visual Studio 2010 project)

    ---------------------------------------------------

    Cpt-Nanashi's version: http://w9.oroti.net/~nanashi/Software/KAGserver.html
    • Stopping and restarting the server
    • Goes into system tray when minimized
    • You can change ban time, vote percent, vote time
    • Lots of other features
    JacKD's version: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/65858755/KAGServerConfigTool/KAG_Server_Config_Tool.zip
    For KAG Beta: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/65858755/KAGServerConfigTool/KAB_Server_Config_Tool.zip
    • Lots of configuration options
    • Class editor (builder blocks, health, resources, etc.)
    • Team editor (enable or disable classes)
    • Game mode editor (match time, score, day cycle, etc.)
    • Manager editor (changes the difficulty of zombie mode)
It also has autoupdate and works on Windows and Linux (might work on OSX too)

How do you MAKE a KAG server tho? This hosts it, but i cant find any information anywhere as to how to make/get one, and if it costs money to do so.
Other than that this program seems pretty neat, easy to figure out what each box does exactly lol.

If you can play KAG on your PC, chances are you can host a small server (whatever your upload bandwidth allows), free of charge on the same PC. All you need it port forwarding/some way of making your PC accessible from the outside world.

Just dont expect stellar performance or to be able to host a large number of players from your house.

    Hello,
    thanks for your work.
When C:\KAG isn't the installation directory, you can't run the server.
But you can still copy your KAG directory to C:\ to have it started.

Thanks for pointing that out, the problem was that it failed to start the server if the path contained spaces (like C:\Program Files\...). It's fixed now and I also added a warning if the program is in a folder where it needs administrator privileges and is not run as administrator.

Actually, it depends on your internet, router and PC. I can host servers for up 24 people (KAG, Terraria, Minecraft, Killing Floor, Team Fortress, etc) quite well.
OT, Great tool, works quite well to host with a simpler interface.

I meant this as a generalization. Of course its possible, but most home internet connections dont have enough upload speed to deal with it.

    So is port forwarding necessary?
