Hey, I'm new. Any advice to what class to play, how to start off, things I should know about multiplayer, etc? Thanks.

Whenever you see a small square room with a bed, arrow or bomb inside , hit it with hammer until it breaks.Or throw bomb at it.

    All chicks will be yours!
*on a serious note - go to the classes sub-forums,there are very detailed guides for archer, knight and builder.Mostly builder.

Knight is the easiest to start playing as but is a typical cannon folder, archer is hard to start but deadly, builder is the hardest one,but he controls the battlefield.

Hello and welcome to the game.

My first suggestion would be to read the instruction manual that SirSalami has made. The link is here: http://kagmanual.freeiz.com/#/page/1
This should provide you a basic idea of how the game works.

After that, I'd suggest trying the single player knight fight so you can get a feel for how fighting in this game works. Once you feel confident that you have a good understanding on how the game works, I'd suggest heading on over to multiplayer.

About Multiplayer: It may seem chaotic at first, as you'll see some people who know what they are doing (and others who don't) during the warm up building time. If you have no idea of what you should do, ask someone and hopefully they will respond nicely. If you don't get a response, stay as a knight and look at what others are doing (if someone is building something, try not to get in their way). Once building phase is over, move forward and try to attack. Combat goes fast, so you'll die fast, so don't get discouraged.

Anyways, the best way to learn is though experience and reading tips on the forums. Anyways good luck and have fun ^-^

Also look at the wiki http://kagwiki.com

There will be a lot of new players joining over the next few days, so please be patient as all the new players adjust and learn -- and also as the higher load brings out some new and exiting bugs on the server infrastructure :)

Or as a community you can all do your part and teach the padawans, since you will all have to be dealing with the newbery as well

I absolutely agree with Overlord - this is a great thing, not something that existing players should fear.

    embrace!

    Hello, welcome to the game/forum.

I wouldn't worry about doing things wrong, just pick whichever class appeals to you most and learn from other players in-game. You can copy "good" constructions for the builder class off the Wiki or forum. The other two will get better with practice.

Try out the tutorial, look at the Wiki, or just jump straight into the game and learn from mistake. There's plenty of material for you to read if you feel lost (linked already in the thread).

    Good luck!

If you're brand new, there are 3 words that label success; Observation, observation, observation.

I played a game just now with a SLEW of new guys... We had guys building single stone wide towers that reached the sky, kids building shit in the backfield BEHIND the tent (it was like, 25 tiles high of castle back walls, 10 thick, and nothing but spikes all over it), and countless other things. I literally have a headache from that game.

The thing that jacks me off is half of these new kids don't want to listen to the vets. Any time anyone tried to give them direction (being friendly or not) they just kept doing what they were doing. Digging tunnels with no team doors to slow the enemy down so they were able to come at us almost immediately. The list goes on...

I would definitely suggest checking out the Builder sub forum under the Classes & Mechanics forum. Tons of awesome threads about what to do as a builder and good ideas for designs.

The game has quite the learning curve, so be ready for a lot of defeats... But I promise it's a ton of fun once you start to become competent at it!

    Word choice?

"Look, listen and learn" is definitely the secret to success. I actual think that playing as a knight is the best way to understand the core of the game. Try sticking with fellow knights to improve your survival rate, and you'll soon get the hang of it.

No! Get really good with builder, the backbone of the team. Good builders are hard to come by.

    1 on 1 I trounce 75% of enemy knights.

Yeah builders are the back bone, I always try to go builder if I can see a possible tactical advantage, such as storming a wall with knight escorts to gain enough time to knock down a defense etc.

Meh, jacks me off doesn't necessarily mean what you think. Hahaha. I guess I'll just go with ticks me off.

I ended up leaving the game early because I couldn't take it anymore, I think it was like 115 blue and 20 red. I was on red.

Also, don't get me wrong, I'm in no way saying I'm a veteran. I've only been around about a month now... But I know SOME things, I know what works and what doesn't, and I frequent the forums and see what SHOULD be done to win, ya know? So when I try to tell the kid making the skybridge out of nothing but stone with no back wall to keep it up, they just keep going. I had one noob that built a ridiculous tower ONE BLOCK away from mine, rendering it completely useless. I tried to tell him that we need to space the towers out, he just kept using the 2 smiley and saying, "IGNORING YOU. IGNORING YOU." THAT is what pisses me off more than anything.
