KAG "Network"

The KAG network should be more unified. Right now we have a bunch of standalone pages and domain names and not one unified network.

I'm curious as to why there are a bunch of domains instead of just one with different subdomains? Is that for better marketing / SEO? I hope there are some benefits, because it's useless otherwise and you are paying yearly for each domain....

We had a problem with this over at Soldat Forums, where, instead of MM creating the forums at forums.soldat.pl, he created it on a whole new domain: soldatforums.com

Then someone bought up the domain when it expired (I guess someone forgot to renew) and made a ton of money from ads. I'm sure someone had to pay out cash to the guy in order to get the domain back, also.

Anyway, even with different domains, the KAG Network can be unified by having one global navbar at the top of each website for each domain and webpage, eg. Forums, Wiki, Dev Blog (News), Main Website, Who Knows What Else.

Or this could be applied to all THD.VG games, such as Soldat and Link-Dead. This will not only unify all THD.VG games, but also drive traffic and exchange exposure between the 3 games. (Soldat players will see KAG and Link-Dead, KAG players will see Soldat and Link-Dead, and Link-Dead players will see KAG and Soldat)

I asked one guy in a server while playing KAG if he knew about this game from Soldat and he said, "What's that?"

If this was done, more people would know about the equally addicting game known as Soldat, and might resurrect the game which I believe is currently dead mostly, (again, imo) because MM didn't put in an auto-updater before 1.3.1, which caused division in the community, with a vast amount of players still playing 1.3.1 and the informed players updating. At least with KAG, we have an auto-updater.

I've already heard "people" talk about buying kagforum or kag2d when it expires ;p

 

Yeah, that's what had to happen with soldatforums.com. Since everyone is using these domains now, what's done is done, but Imo, I wouldn't have done it in the first place if there weren't any benefits, especially as an Indies Dev, every dollar counts. But that is nitpicking. :P

 

Yeah, that's a reason, but it would most likely be bought by a fan and be made into a fan forum such as wowforums.com codforums.com etc.

No biggie.
