Do you feel the Archer's 'laying prone' ability is underutilized? Or is it just too easy to spot? I find myself trying to use it but it never seems to work. Perhaps I am doing something wrong, but does anyone who plays Archer heavily use the tactic to effect?

It's really handy for avoiding arrows that else would have taken you in the eye...

...but less useful for actually hiding.

its good to hide in spike pits when you wait for someone and never hide near a friendly because you might get bombed or get hit by a slash

I always use it when I'm utilizing a murder hole. Hiding in clustered corpses rarely helps, because random bombs, arrows, and stabs will most likely hit you.

tried using it to ambush an enemy knight once, did not work because i falsely assumed a friendly knight to cooperate.. He just stood there watching me being slaughtered. I hope he had fun.

tldr: hiding is not that useful in public games

Nice if we could grab grass to cover ourselves while prone.

Prone is not very useful anywhere else than tunnels, (will be very useful there among darkness) but I think that the name should not be shown when an enemy is hovering his mouse on you. But yeah, no much use for it currently.

Crawling should also help a little, since you could move between the positions without exposing yourself.

Are you sure that arrows can be dodged by going prone? Or do they collide with where the archer is "supposed" to be?

Too bad hiding doesn't work that often. I've only seen one or two people pull it off well...then again, you never know if an enemy archer is succeeding at it because you don't find them!

No arrows don't fly past when you go prone, that would be a little op. Though the hitbox gets smaller, it's still not completely accurate to archer's sprite.

I find going prone incredibly useful, particularly if you pick the right head as a premium player. Often the face on the sprite is a dead giveaway that you are faking it, so a head that coneceals the eyes helps. If it is also mostly brownish colours, you can hide well in tunnels, especially in corners.

(There's a reason I always play the red team; everything about my appearance aims towards hiding. ^_^)

Shouldn't this be in archer discussion? Moved there.

It seems really hard to actually use the "lying prone" feature of archers because there's rarely any cases when nobody will see you moving first.

I think you should be able to crawl, slowly (very slowly so it's not overpowered) while lying down.

Theres an odd glitch with being prone. I was an archer, lying prone, and someone decided to take a potshot at me. Arrow took me in the head... but there was no damage, and I could even see the arrow sticking out of my head when I stood up!:huh?:

Result: I find proning a very useful skill, and in some cases (if you're enemies are complete noobs) an entire army can walk past you and not notice. :)

I find that hiding is very hard and most of the time I never go prone except to try and dodge a arrow. I only try to hide when I think I can get behind someone and take them down. Most of the time I die, however if you can wait for some confusion (like knights fighting) usually I can stand up and get a few shots in then run.

Jak I know you might be very exited about zombies but you must know this.
Necroing a thread does not turn it into a zombie.
