what happens to old guards?

hi guys,
since i played kag, i saw many guards. but what happened to them? for example Downburst, he was last seen 2011 or trelavney? did the stop playing kag? and if their guardpower got removed, were there new guards?
im worried, because i dont see much guards anymore... and if there is a greifer or speedhacker and no admin is there.... they will just get votekicked and the can connect in 1 hour again....
so what happened to them?
for example Kyzak or Ey is very often on forums, but i havent ever seen them in the game, and i play every day.

You see the power of guards come from a magical crystal called a "soul gem" and when they ban griefers all of the hate and destruction in the hearts of griefers (contained in a grief seed) gets absorbed into the guard's soul gem. But there is only so much a soul gem can take. After enough griefers are banned the soul gem turns black with all the negativity and becomes a grief seed of its own...

 

@Contrary: This sounds as it was true. Either that or it was stolen from any Dungeons & Dragons PC/Console Game.

To the guy that made this thread: I can't quite believe you play daily because i regularly see Downburst ingame, like every 2-3 days.

 

I recently saw downburst actually, like within the past week. Maybe you are just in a different timezone (i.e. across the world) from those guards.

Some guards don't play anymore, that's all there is to it.
Some of them have been playing for well over a year, so it's expected they'd get bored of the game at times.

And now it's easier than ever to set up an admin team, so guards aren't essential to keeping your server free of griefers etc.
Although a lot of guards are admins on popular servers anyway.

 

Being guard is suffering.

Downburst plays regularly, and is in fact one of the most active guards as far as in-game duties go-I believe!--. Personally I find forum moderation less inefficient and draining than going through the flawed process of getting a griefer/hacker/et cetera banned, so I'm far more active here than in-game. Trelawney had a baby earlier this year, so he's busy being a father.

In general, you can almost always find a guard on IRC; beyond that, some just lose interest in the game or play at different times.

 

Well some of them were launched into the sun due to... no just kidding. I see Downburst a lot. Gaurds are there alright, you just have to be paying attention.

 

Lately I see a lot of guards online, so it isn't true.
And I think Downburst is the biggest server hoster with 5 servers and he does play.
