I made a thread like this for archers and realized that builders didn't have one either

just post any useful tips or little known facts for builders here :) (DO NOT post any building designs)

-Your team doesn't need 6 builders back at base building factories and such

-While front-lines builder it 100% useless in combat it is EXTREMELY useful, just dig through enemy towers, build small towers for your team, ladder over enemy structures, and other stuff like that. 1 good front-line builder can lead a team to victory

-Gather materials faster: hold mouse -> wait until you here the chopping/mining/digging sound effect -> release mouse -> rinse and repeat

-if you are capturing a hall and no one is around switch to builder and put doors or blocks over all the entrances

-DO NOT run into combat without a knight to escort you, 99% of the time you will die

-even as a builder you tap press "c" to pick up and throw back enemy bombs

-If you are at a hall and there is not enought time to place a door(unlikely) place spikes inside basicly killing everyone going after you alloying you to cap it safely
-If you in the enemy base and your not gona survive place as many material wasting blocks so the enemy doesn't get. Like if you have two stacks of stone.
-make vertical trampolines at the frontlines. I can't say how many times these have help
-Spikes may be cheesey bet they are the best defence against knights in caves
-Dont wast stone on a cata, if its empty just pack it back up and un pack it.

-Make saw traps. A saw under three trap blocks can kill +5 people in several minutes, purely because they kill instantly. Spikes take a heart, saws mulch pretty much everything that goes near them, you do the math.
-Drills are powerful tools. I once used a drill and a lantern - A drill for digging, a lantern for light - to capture a red hall defended by exactly jack shit, but would be suicidal to attempt to capture aboveground. And, drills also give you better damage and speed. Sure, they burn you after a while, but while they last you can kill a knight with a heart and a half or a builder with full HP.
-Bombs, mines, kegs. These all are invaluable to your whole team, in more ways then one - bombs can be used for bombjumping or killing builders/archers that are far away, but only the Knight can use them/kegs. Kegs just make things blow up, which is surprisingly helpful. (not to mention the one-in-a-billion chance that someone might kegjump to the enemy base, which is guaranteed to catch them off guard, and maybe even capture their hall. Mines are good for traps, but are one-use only.

    There's all my tips.

    - Never run at knights with a drill, one slash and it gets destroyed. If you sneak up on them, or find an oblivious knight then it may be effective, but not face to face.

    - You get rewarded in the afterlife if you take the initiative and try to ladder up walls, destroy towers, and break into a hall for your team.

    - People who minecraft and do nothing get sent to hell to be tortured in a Sisyphus style punishment, forever attempting to build a base only for it to collapse on you.

    • Block the pesky enemy doorways by casting stone around them, proceed laddering your team to the top
    • If you have no team, use your muscle power and wipe out everyone
    • Punch the tower so hard it falls

    - if you and some knights reach the other teams tower after traveling across water, block their doors with stone or wood and then proceed up the side of the tower with ladders.

    - don't be a shitlord and run into the middle of all the fighting. You are almost guaranteed to die and loose all your materials.

    • Be a speedy micro-manager. KAB doesn't need a lot, just make sure your base is nice and sealed, stone doors are being used and you have good amounts of workshops.
    • Give your minions what they require. Knight = Good. Knight+Bomb = :smug:
    • Build good bases - doors of stone, good support, easy team-only access, some sort of spike or saw trap to prevent gathering. It only takes one mounted bow and one good knight to defend a well made base.
    • Keep the ladders coming. Usually people play knight so you generally already have an army. Control them like lemmings! Ladders and War-boats do the trick. Try to concentrate and then surge your little buddies.
    • Block your enemies. :castle:'s can change the shape of a battlefield completely for your team.

A boulder trap or two is useful! followed by the well known saw trap, place a room with two trap blocks at the bottom of the room just big enough to fit the boulder in. and make it dark so they can't see inside (Easily done by placing backwalls in the room then blocking it off with doors to replace the boulder) Once it's done the enemy may try to jump up through the trap blocks to get into your base/hall, only to be greeted with a giant boulder, placed above a saw trap and it's a guaranteed death for anyone trying to get in manually.

If you have built a castle and the outer walls are wood, try making a layer of stone outside of that if you have the resources for it. Fire arrows can be devastating to castles with a lot of wood so if you can, get some stone up in that bitch.

Placing doors underwater and then standing in them creates an "air bubble." It's exploitative in a way but it isn't a glitch. Water is a pain in the ass and takes up too much space on some maps. You'll need all the help you can get.

This is how you make a door-ladder.

:door: = door in a horizontal position (Use space bar to rotate)

:dirt: = solid wooden or stone block

:bridge: = Wooden platform, rotated so that its solid side faces the direction you'll be approaching it from. (There's only left and right )

    :dirt:
    :bridge:
    :door:
    :dirt:

Repeat that pattern for as high as you want to go. You'll need to reinforce it by placing solid blocks on the side that you won't be approaching it from. It needs a spine.
