    Hi everyone!

Many of you don't know me, as I have not played since the very first releases of King Arthur's Gold, and have only returned to the scene recently. I want to thank all of the guards, administrators, forum curators, and even normal users that have been of great help to me getting back into the game.

I am happy to report that I've been able to set up a number of dedicated servers due to the amazing patience and assistance of so many in the community. I'd like to specifically call out Mazey, Verrazano, FuzzyBlueBaron, Kouji, Geti, and even Ej (grudgingly) for all the help in getting things working to my satisfaction.

Anyone who is thinking about getting into server hosting, or even has questions about general play, you won't find a more helpful community. My servers are open to all comers, and I have even has the *ahem* pleasure of getting my ass handed to me by several guards and admins frequenting them. You've made me feel really welcome to the group, and given me a lot of great tips to help me be less of a bumbling fool in game. Thanks again!

    P.S. I still suck :P

I'll get back to wiki editing, but what needs to be updated at the server wiki?

Hi Wyattman/anyone else having that issue,

Its true that this is not the ideal spot to post such a message; your best bet would be to "start a conversation" with me from the upper menu. However, I'm over it and will answer your question here.

I don't see you on the list of banned users on my server, so I suspect the system auto-banned you for exceeding the ping limit. This type of ban only lasts several minutes and does not appear on your 'permanent record', so to speak, and will not count against you in any way.

That said, it is likely that the problem will recur if nothing has changed. The ping limit I am referring to represents how long it takes for communications between your computer and mine to complete. Longer than usual 'pings' like this can result in a poor user experience, such as the appearance of teleporting around or seeming invulnerability, for you and those around you, hence the ban happening.

The trick to eliminating this problem is to reduce these delays by one or more of the following means:
    - Do not use a computer that is online via WiFi. WiFi is a useful technology, but can be prone to interference and packet loss, resulting in increased lag, especially on programs sensitive to it, like games. Plug your computer in directly to avoid this.
    - Temporarily don't use a router (or at least reboot it). Many home routers are not the most robust pieces of hardware in the world, and can begin to act sub-optimally after having been on for a long time, and sometimes are just under-performing altogether. A power reboot may help, but if not, you may need to plug your computer directly into your Internet connection to avoid it entirely. You may have to also reset your modem, if you have one, to get this to work.
    - Avoid using the Internet or your computer for more than one thing at a time while gaming. Anything you or your cohabitants may be doing that is sharing the Internet connection, or your computer's resources can cause dramatic swings to the latency, or 'ping time' to any server on the Internet. Games and some other services are the most adversely affected by this. Avoid it if you can by following these recommendations.
    - Locate servers that have better ping times to you. Unfortunately, the Internet is imperfect, and you can not count on having a reliably speedy link between you and every given point in the world. I'm sure our friends in Australia can verify my claims :D! As such, some servers are just 'to far away' from you, and as a result, the latency, or ping, is just too great, and you'll always have bad ping on those, no matter what you do.

You may need to try one more of these tricks to get the results you're after. I can't guarantee it will work like magic, but is about all you can do.

I hope you get some good information out of that explanation. I wish you luck and hope to murder you on one of my servers some time!
