Sorry, i just read the rules too late and sorry for putting here multiple suggestions. But anyway where the hell should I have posted this thread? Opening up like 8-9 threads would seem very stupid and inpractical.

    Hi,

On the weekend I found this game on steam, and becasue in my childhood I loved all kinds of cross-sections (Stephen Biesty's Castle!!!) I bought a 4 pack to even share it with my pals.
Alltogether its fun, but first I would have been better to have some kind of multiplayer demo etc. to try it out. In my case I bought it even without trying, but this does not always work for everyone.
From the gameplay perspective I share the concerns that even thought the great physics and building/crafting aspect exist in the game, I would also like to have less chaos and "bruteforce". I want to see big nicely built castles with fortifications and traps, static weapons etc. But currently the game setting and dynamics goes against the slow paced strategic building aspect.
    • Maybe the movement of the classes should be a bit more restrictive. The grappling hook is really annoying, and also the wall walk should be much more limited, like 4-5 blocks height only, the same with jump height. Then it would be much more important for the builder class to make ladders, bridges, siege towers etc. Also restrict swimming, slowing it down. The boats would have more usefulness then.
    • The stone/wood materials are solid enough, but the soil material is too sensitive to explosions. Actually it should be the other way around. Dirt and soil should be even more solid against explosions than rock. In real world history actually after gunpowder and cannons were invented and used for sieges, after a short time the war engineers realised that the immensive destructive power of a cannon can be countered with soil backing up the outer stone layers, because it is not that rigid it can absorb the shock.
    • Adding to this, it would be nice to put in an ability to dig and move soil.
    • I would also like to see some kind of stair block.
    • You should be able to fill in moats with water maybe with the water bucket.
    • The trap block should be somehow covered until the enemy activates it. Like camouflage to soil or stone block.
I've also made a dedicated server, but setting it up was not that easy. The autoconfig.cfg file is annoying. There should be a nice server.cfg only with server variables, and which is not rewritten everytime the server starts up. But the biggest annoyance was the gamemode.cfg and the other variable cfg file in the RULE/[gamemode] directory. I just changed the startup time by a few seconds, and turned the autobalance off and the stupid thing told be that the server is considered now modded, and will show up in the server list as a mod. Since when is turning off autobalance a mod?
These type of settings should be removed from that file, or the gamemode.cfg and the variable cfg file should be ignored while checking for modded files.

Modifying anything inside the Base folder is considered Modding.

If not for this, your server being considered modded wouldn't be a bad thing.

Ej is correct, you should have much more playtime under your belt before being so judgmental on the play style, all the sprites have these movements for a reason. To make the game more diverse and appealing to others, something different really. As for the pace of games: Games move how the players move, if the player base rushes then the game is basically rushed. Some matches can be played at a very slow pace, some fast. It all depends on the playerbase in that match

Or if the middle of the map becomes too subjected to bombs and kegs that it creates a massive crater to bedrock which then turns the match into a standstill of 'who can survive in the crater the longest!'

Until a party pooper votes next map.

With the dedicated server, I had that similar problem, I found It very difficult to configure a server as the steam files are slightly different than if you were to get the game directly off the site. How did I fix it? I hosted from the non-steam version but played on the steam version... Which was generally easier than digging through the autoconfig on notepad for an hour.
