look of... metal slug???

    Saw this game on steam, looks interesting, read the description and it says in multiple places "in the visual style of metal slug"

    I'm seriously just curious and mean no offense but I have to ask... by what measure does this look like metal slug?

    it is much more in the visual style of terraria or even king arthur's world http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BOiisvEuRt8

    Is there some back story I'm not aware of where at some point this game was being described as "in the visual style of king arthur's world" but someone got sued?

    I think we wanted to get across that the art is somewhat detailed and grainy, there's a lot going on, lots of explosions, and avoid mentioning the dirty word "terraria" on the front page. That list of games and comparisons was actually written by a reviewer, we just thought it sounded nice and characterised the game well.

    King Arthur's World was a direct inspiration for the earlier iterations of the game, I dont think we had any lawsuit threats but I think a lot of people hadn't heard of it - that may have been a symptom of them being too young though :^)

    Thanks, that makes a lot more sense. I saw it and immediately thought... did someone make a multi-player version of king arthur's world!? Awesome. But then didn't see that mentioned anywhere and metal slug was a confusing comparison. Now mercenary kings; THAT looks like metal slug... had a baby with river city ransom.

    Haha was the same intention for me.

    I wanted to buy the game, and then i have read "metal slug" and was really thinking again about to buy it :)
