What is DDoS?

 

How I imagine a DDoS attack:

A walled City stands isolated in the center of the continent.
Thousands of roads, wide enough to fit even ten carriages side by side span in every compass direction, countless aqueducts extrude from this brilliant City of connection.
Trade and commerce is bountiful, from the local area airways to the international submarine network, this City is but one of millions littering the world, connecting us all.

Even the first-party, pay-to-play "sub-networks" designed exclusively for the mindless drones to gain infinite killstreaks are happily allowed to join in on this amazing feat of global agreement.

This period of plentiful data swapping glory is in a golden age, with an ever increasing number of roads - each wider than its predecessor.

All Cities feel joy and happiness, that is, until the day.

The drones, normally kept subdued by their unending ability to gain many prestige and pwn, are unsettled.
One among them, spoiled by his wealth, has just conceded a match against his fellow 13-year-old drones.
Raging hormones and self-righteousness fuel his unquenchable thirst for revenge.

Spreading his tendrils of wealth and malice, he corrupts thousands of users on the very network he shares.
Now prepared for pwnge, he commands his legion to burn, disrupt and overwhelm.

Via millions of simultaneous pictures of flaccid dicks, the legion floods the City.

Aqueducts instantly evaporate, roads are blockaded and the City falls under Darkness.

His job now done, the misaligned one recalls his legion, to return to a sleep state.

Now free of unending cock, the City begins to reboot, commerce recommences and all resume, tentatively yet surely.

This has happened before. The War is never quite won.

They know this, yet they have no defense,for the very centre of their civilisation - open communication of the most bootiful design - is their greatest weakness.

And for this, they may never be quite prepared for the next attack. They may only be ready to fall and rebuild once more.

 

Also its pretty sad that its legal in a few countries to ddos but not everywhere else.

Also the fact that you can legally DOS people (not ddos) from your computer's cmd is ridiculous.
