Not so sure about the aim of this game, but it's a fighting co-op game for up to 4 players in local multiplayer that has already been greenlit (woah! that's so hard nowadays!). It's probably on a pre-alpha stage, the controls are hard to cope with, graphics are generic 3d shapes, but it's hilarious. It reminds me somehow to Smash Brothers, Toribash and ps2 The Warriors.



You control a simple charachter and can perform simple actions: walk, jump, dodge, right punch, left punch, right grab, left grab, grab with both hands, lift what you grabbed and put your hands up like an idiot. This said, the point is that you can interact with the environment of each level.

We played this at AMAZE, @Shadlington was really good at it and won haribo gummies in the tournament from memory! Fun game, kinda brutal at times, really good emergent play.

Brilliant game.

 

I just checked what was going on with the game, and they've released an early access version at Steam, plus DoubleFine (it makes more sense in just 1 word :>) grabbed it.

I laughed so hard watching this game at AMAZE. I need to play it with some friends. Definitely recommended if you have people to play with.

I read somewhere it's on their todo list. They recently made a self-explaining post in which you can read this:

"Networking

We have listed Gang Beasts on Steam as an exclusively local multiplayer game to avoid confusion. We have had many requests for online support and want to have support for online modes but we can’t commit to adding support until we have implemented a stable, tested, and working solution (and have secured the various resources necessary to support it). We are working with Multiplay to identify potential schemes for an online implementation."

So it looks like these guys have been working on the game quite hard lately, and they came up with this:

They've ported it to Unity 5 and, apparently, that's the hell of a thing. Looking at their gifs, the characters look quite more responsive, you can interact with the environment (which now contains more items and levels) more:

Looks like it wouldn't be really hard, after all, the environments in the game seem a bit underworked in terms of detail (circular-linear movements, boxes, walls, 3d rectangles, cubes etc)

I have requested 10 keys for their Beta Multiplayer build, which is free of charge and for stress testing purposes. It looks like they're also using this strategy to make the people announce their game freely as well.
I'll share 9 or 8 of them if they accept the request.

 

nice, I just went and requested 4 keys. cant wait to play it. how long did it take for you to get the keys?

 

Didn't get any response yet, and it's not so sure I'll get them.

I stated I'd use this forum for sharing;in case I receive those beta keys I'll give them here, to the first 8 players who answer here I guess. We will hopefully get to play some online matches.

Edit: They sent me 4 codes. I keep 2, icemusher and Barsuk get 2. I suppose makmoud you'll receive some codes too.
