I don't know about you guys, but I was pretty excited to play the demo when it came out today!

I had a ton of fun playing it this morning. I loved the way each class played and I'd burst out laughing when I heard some of the screams the characters made.

I'm sure the reason the devs posted a demo was not only for our enjoyment, but also so they could see how to improve parts of the game. I'd like to discuss my opinion on each class and I'd also like to hear yours below.

The assault class seems like the perfect all around class because you have a very strong assault rifle paired with a grenade to get enemies that are in hard to reach places. I feel like this class might be too strong, but I have yet to see it be played and counter-played by human intelligence.

The sniper class was very cool because of the ability to aim anywhere. The AI could aim too fast in my opinion, but I'm sure that humans won't have the same "reaction" time. I think the camouflage was the perfect second ability and the AI even tricked me a few times. This class will certainly require a lot of skill to compete with the others.

The engineer class was a turn off for me at first. The rocket launch was pretty hard to control and I had no idea what the purpose behind crates was, but after I delved deeper I found myself setting up cover on the rooftops and hailing rockets from above. I also found myself dropping crates on anyone that got too close, which was a hilarious feature. I still think that the rocket is a little hard to control (maybe a slight turning speed buff could help), but other than that I thought this class was hilarious and could play a very strong support class in multiplayer.

The commando was my favorite class of the four of them because of how fast he is. I loved dodging bullets and slicing up my enemy. The AI didn't react to my flash bang (unsurprisingly), but I think that it would make for an interesting use in multiplayer. I could definitely see players being scared for their lives so they spam ammo until the flash bang is over. The only thing that I found difficult with this class was when I wanted to jump off of tall structures I frequently found myself getting stuck on walls and corners when going down.

I'd just like to thank Transhuman Design for making such a hilarious game. I cannot wait to see what this becomes down the road!

PS: I think that it is better to solve player retention issues now, while the game is still in its infant stages. I was thinking something along the lines of: players being able to show off cool items/achievements/trophies during truce stage.

I love the game! Is so funny! I just hope we can use RT and LT when we use the controller in a future! It's really funny to play! I'm excited to see the future of the game!

Just played the demo a bit and the game is really awesome! The soundtrack is amazing, and I love how there's controller support already. I just need online mode though!

Few things I've noticed so far:
    • needs expanded controller support
    • look sensitivity options
    • mouse option for aiming?

Assault class: Really good all-round class.
Sniper class: really fun but in my opinion there should be a longer reload time. You can just spam when enemies get closer so you almost always win. (edit: This is mostly for the A.I).
Engineer class: Really fun, rocket controll is good for me. (edit: One disadvantage is that you can't move while homing a missile, so when somebody gets close you're practically dead).
Commando: I really like his wall climbing, but whenever I use the flashbang it works against me since I can't see anything but the A.I can.

I don't have alot to say so far, but I'll post more when I have more experience playing the game.

I feel like mouse aiming would give those players a big advantage. I'm glad to hear other people's thoughts on the classes :)

Sniper: IMO Snipers shouldn't be able to shoot while climbing a ladder. It's too OP with their skill to aim upwards and downwards.

Assault: my fav class, everything is great :)

Commando: Really fun but his X action seems little useless in local mode.

Engineer: To slow and hard to control to be good at these small maps. I think it should be buffed.

I'd really, really like some kind of CTF or "intel" capture mode to be implemented next. Or larger maps. Playing on small maps is kind of hard with 4 players. Maybe engineer could make sentries as well? That'd be awesome.

I read it, I'm just saying those would be the most important things to work on next. But I'm sure THD is aware of the design flow.

As much as I have played TR with 4 players I have never found the maps too small. They are "just right" size, imo.

I really wanted to use the mouse for attacks and aiming. I don't think you should be able to aim by moving your mouse, but maybe by scrolling with the mouse wheel. (you CAN aim with mouse wheel but it's EXTREMELY slow.)

Engineer is the class I've had the most fun with so far, even though it doesn't really seem to fit this game mode. I've been trying to run around and collect enough crates to make myself a rocket spamming fortress but I usually kill myself with a crate get rekt by pesky commandos. The guided rockets are just sooo awesome. I wish the AI played this class.

Can you collect more than 6 crates? I didn't think it was possible but I could be wrong. I think that the engineer is the most challenging, but also the most funny and rewarding class to get kills with. Chukka also said that commandos rekt him. It's probably because engineers are not the best for close quarters and commandos are super fast.

I'm surprised more people don't enjoy the commando. I get the most kills slashing my way around. I think that the flashbang should be replaced with a throwing knife because I think flashbangs would get spammed in multiplayer and it gives the commando some range.

You have to find a crate in the map, stack a crate on top of it, and then collect them both.

The entire point of the commando is that he doesn't have range. I do agree that flashbangs could be annoying, though.

Re: class balance - I said it in the other thread, but please play with friends. The current balance is based on a hundreds of games with over fifty people of a big range of skills (from unable-to-use-sniper to crate-master) and reasonably solid in our experience.

Re: collecting crates - you can collect up to 255; after that it'll glitch.

Re: flashbangs being annoying - that's why you only have one. Try it with friends; it's tricky to get the best use out of it but can definitely be useful for getting the edge, either by killing them or getting them to expend ammo.

    Re: mouse aiming - nope.

Re: triggers on gamepads - sadly we can't use these using irrlicht's input, which is what we're stuck with :^( MM spent a few days this week trying to find solutions but the guy maintaining that part of irrlicht is gone, so we're more or less on our own. It's not likely to happen as adding anything to it requires rebuilding irrlicht for each platform every time and manually adding any changes they make as well, so we're stuck with bumpers.

  16. I'm not sure if anyone else agrees, but I found myself mixing up the buttons all the time as engineer. To me dropping crates is his primary and missiles are only useful if you secure a location. It's not a big deal I can just rebind the keys. It just seems little odd.

    best game, geti/10

    btw, here's what i think:

-bots are cunts: they always know where you are aiming as sniper and run away, get you always in camouflage mode, commando bot needs to be nerfed.. he basically instakill you when he touches just one of your pixels.
-game looks fun, can't wait for the multiplayer part, hoping we won't see other player's cursors going around the screen
    -hoping for larger map
    ----------
edit: maybe add some player color customization? like clothes color and such

  18. I don't really like the idea of customizing colors. Maybe a few unlockable skins for each class.

I'll you RotMG as an example:
    Wizard.png Merlin.png Elder Wizard.png Mischievous Imp.png
The only issue is if Gatu doesn't wanna create a shitload of sprites for cosmetic reasons all over again.

I really think that they should implement a way for players to show off their skills like golden guns or achievements.
