Cant connect to my server.

    I've been trying to get the server working for a few days now, I have tried it on 3 different operating systems, Windows Server 2008 R2; Windows 7 and Ubuntu Linux 11.04

    I cant see where any issues could be, I have port forwarded the server and it comes up on the multiplayer server list on the client (its called 'TEST@@@') but when I try and connect it gives me an error; "Please check the address again and make sure the server is running."

    Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    oh, maybe this will help;
    I have 2 different servers running on 2 different rackmounts, one is portforwarded and the other isnt, however both of them are coming up on the server list at the same time

    the server list has nothing to do with whether it's usable or not

    it's an outbound connection

    • Identical Post/Spam.
    A few problems, my server come up on the server list, but I cant join it, but I can directly connect on the same computer.

    Im running Windows Server 2008 R2 and it is port forwarded correctly (I think).

    Your server is connecting to the master server (appears in server browser) but isn't joinable - probably becuase your inbound port forwarding is screwed (you should see the ping bar next to the server name if all is well).

    If you can connect on same PC or other PC on LAN then, as I said, I reckon it's your inbound port mapping that's wrong.

    I cant connect from other pc's on LAN, only from the PC itself, but others seem to be (from what I can understand) by the messages im recieving in the command window. or is that just me?

    When I say 'connect from other PC on LAN' I mean using the manual 'connect to' GUI, not via server browser..... and using the LAN IP address, not the public IP.

    Ok, I have not idea where the problem lies now...
    I have 2 servers running at a remote location on the same LAN, one is hosting the server and the other is just on.
    I have just connected to the server using the other server using the external IP address with no issues, However, I cant connect to the server from here for some reason. Would you be able to test it? Myself and the server is in the UK (currently called @@@@TEST@@@)

    Your server is visible, but not joinable. In my, limited, experience of running these things, this indicates there's a problem wit your inbound firewall settings.

    Presumably your router firewall settings, but if you're running firewall s/w on the server, then I guess that needs checking too.
