By the way, does anyone know how to get a rid of those blue boxes behind the names of the icons? I have no idea why do they appear, but I want them gone :L

Windows 7 fixed all the performance issues with Vista. XP is just out-dated nowadays.

 

Yes yes, I know, I've used pirated Windows 7 for four months, but some program noticed it and didn't let me to change my wallpaper, so I reverted back to XP :p

It was better a experience overall, except that the paint sucks.

 

Man, I use 7's MSPaint all the time (since apparently Photoshop is actually an aimbot for KAG). Never heard of an issue with pirated Windows 7, although I wouldn't know; I have a couple copies of Windows 7 sitting around.

Anyways, to get rid of those pesky blue shadow things, just do this:
Go to Start > Settings > Control Panel > System Properties > Advanced, then under Performance click Settings > Visual Effects, then simply check "Use drop shadows for icons labels on the desktop".

Or something like that. Tell me if it works.

 

I found the right place I think, but there doesn't seem to be such setting.

Whatever, changed the bg of them to black and it doesn't bother me so much anymore.

If you have a good computer, Vista is like Seven because for me it's not slow and work great.

 

I sense much OS-fanboyism in this thread.

 

Even XP serves better performance than Vista, although at a cost of some compatibility. I have some pretty good specs personally, but the performance difference is really a drag to computer enthusiasts and not worth it. Vista wasn't made with gaming or performance in mind, just seemingly overwhelming aesthetics. I suppose it serves better than a lot of other Operating Systems though, and if you like it then more power to you.

Designating a preference for a certain OS because it exceeds others as "fanboyism" -- of which would imply it to be biased, would be about the same as a "fanboy" preferring a 2.4GHz Quad Core CPU over a 1.6GHz Single Core CPU. The Software you use on your computer is just as significant as the Hardware.
