U13 comes to KAG

U13, who many of you may know from Soldat, now has a few KAG servers.

So far they are running with 100% default settings until I learn more about the game. Holy crap is this game fun and addictive.

Right now there are 3 servers, default settings. All three are located in US East (Reston, VA).

U13 KAG:

I started these up because I noticed there are not a whole lot of low latency servers for US players. I am open to suggestions about settings changes, etc.

I'm thinking about raising one of them to be a huge server, like 48 players - but I want to know if that is something that you guys would want. Please share some thoughts about ideal server size or other things you would like to see.

edit: I made #3 into a large (32 player, 425x180 map) server, and have it set to use the mountain map template

 

From what I have seen, right now the unlimited lives CTF game type is the most popular. Noburu's, BlueLuigi's and I think the other are almost always full and I know that there are still probably even more people who'd like to join them. So maybe one of them should be unlimited. Unlimited doesn't really work as well with large number of people though since the game would drag on forever that way and probably end in a draw.

On the server that you do with 48 people, I might suggest having mostly medium sized maps (about 100x100 to 150x150) and have a few small maps place in between so that there is some diversity.

3rd server you could make it similar to the old A/D game mode since there are some people that liked it, although no server is currently running it.

Hopefully these servers will take off the load of the few US servers here so that more people from the US can actually play.

Teemo - what a bizarre coincidence that you know zak! Are you in this area? What about you, Bracket?

I think it breaks some kind of Internet gamer's law for us to live so close together and go more than a certain amount of time without getting a beer or something

 

Personally I disagree with this - I think there's still far more players playing regular CTF. I'm certainly not a big fan of unlimited lives.

 

Gotcha. I have a bit of room left in my half rack with YF if you want any machine there for cheap, at least until I need the space for more important things (like hopefully more servers for THD because KAG is too popular! :))

 

Currently there's no easy way for server owners to unban specific people - but check back tomorrow and it should be fine (I'll try and restart the servers tomorrow morning which should clear any bans)

 

the only admins on my servers besides me are the global mods/admins. do you have a story to share?
