    It's a scam. The people that made this started filming in 2003, and since then some resolutions have been met. The number of children abducted to be soldiers is something like 80% less and the girl sex slaves- well, I didn't read about that one. Probably something less. But back to my point;

In reality, Invisible Children or whoever these people are pocket the majority of the donations and roughly ~31% actually goes to the cause. Don't donate to these people. Research the topic because my information might be faulty. This is a real problem but this "Charity" seems sketchy to me.

I repeat, do not donate. The people running this so-called "charity" might be scamming all of us.

You know, I would usually agree, but something has to be wrong with you if you say that. Don't believe everything you see on the internet, probably some pricks wanting to get money out of a selfless cause.

People are paying 30 bucks for their kit?
Then other people will pay 10 bucks to their scam?
That's sick, even for human standards. Why do people leech off millions of children's deaths and suffers?

And apparently the lack of a fifth board member is the reason behind the 3/4 star financial rating.

I'm the kind of person who likes to remain consistently skeptical, and keep to the middle ground. I do think that Joseph Kony is a real criminal, but he doesn't sound so different from a lot of other criminals, and I don't see how he could be 1# on a hitlist (but then again, I've never heard of the ICC before, and their lack of straightforward support doesn't do their validity justice). I also don't really care. He's been here for 26 years apparently, and hasn't been been captured; sounds like a lost cause to me. Also, the documentary KONY 2012 very blatantly states that they've got the support they need and they are on their way to capturing him; why should they continue to be so insistent on gaining awareness?

I also felt that the documentary greatly bastardised everything; it didn't feel like they were even taking the issue seriously. They were being unrealistic and marginalised the other issues in Uganda. I also found the video to be inconsistent, dragged out, partially irrelevant, new-agey and a bit fanatical. They don't seem trustworthy to me with such nagging that you buy their kit, or donate money. Also the kit is just... strange. A bracelet with a number on it? What the fuck? But overall I think my biggest gripe is how they want to spread awareness by 'painting the town'; advertising the campaign on a single date. They are urging supporters to vandalise; that's completely fucked.

Also; silly people, you want to make Joseph Kony imfamous, not famous. Is that distinction not obvious?

It's funny how one site says it's a scam, brings some evidence that could as well be made by themselves, shows a photo of the film creators with guns (OH NO, WOHOOH it's terrible) and suddenly everyone who read that goes around telling it's a scam.

And the campaign is meant to raise awereness, that doesn't say anything about fame or infamy.

But to be honoust, I couldn't care less about all this. It might be a scam, it might be for real, whatever the case, this picture sums it all up:

If by 'good cause', you mean 'American Imperialism to counter growing Chinese influence in African nations', then by all means, carry on with your gun-ho hipster poster creating. Just know that the US Administration couldn't care less whether Kony lives or dies, or whether he carries on abducting children, or whether he undergoes a sex change. Only that he remains in the public eye as some scapegoat long enough to fly troops into the region to dilute any unwanted presence, and acquire some more third world nations. And you're all helping them out! Well done guys!

I like how it's only been about two days since the hype began, and everyone I know on Facebook has already stopped giving a shit.

Almost all charities are usually scams, at least in the sense that 100% of the money is not going where it belongs and SOME of it is being diverted to some shit no one seems to know about.

The fact that people are urged to donate to charities to help homeless people that they could just give a dollar to instead of donating the dollar to a charity is ridiculous as you get a full dollar to that guy with no strings attached instead of to some charity where maybe he'll get $.50 if he's lucky of that.

I don't know about you guys, but I find that charities, not serious humanitarian charities, seem to pull a lot of strings from what it seems and you'll have to do something to get your `donations`.

Look into all charities with great scrutiny before a dime is given.

Yeah agreed, Blueluigi, because they are essentially a vehicle between you and the cause, and in that the intent can get lost. I used to donate to world vision directly, simply asking that my money, "Go to where it is needed most". I stopped doing this when I realised that I wasn't actually in control of where my money was going, and the distance between me and the cause was so large that it was likely things got complicated between that distance (distance, both in a metaphorical and literal sense).

Now I give to charities which are closer to home; even if their cause is not as large or important as others, my transaction is more secure.

Why should the USA intervene here? Let the Europeans do it. The USA is not nor it should be the police of the world. We should leave them all alone in Africa and let them sort their own affairs out.
