Excellent guide. I use mostly the latter of the bomb techniques as it gets me more height, which means more air control, at the cost of being in the air longer.

I didn't even know about the cata jump, good job!

  2. I've always wondered why sometimes jump forward and sometimes backward. Thanks a lot for this.

While on the subject of jumping, I think it would be useful to note that to achieve any safety AT ALL when using your shield as a parachute to make longer descents, you MUST raise your shield before you begin your downwards journey. This prevents early acceleration from forcing you to lower the shield too early, causing injury or death. :p

Yeah the parachute is a nice feature and hard to understand how you could use a shield to do that , but it's a game so yeah
anyway while on the subject of jumping knight bomb guide. How about the one where you can use a bomb to activate a trap , I'll see if i can get some screen shots of it.

Nonono Wonkyth. I have tested it and Parachuting will actually kill you at heights where you would have otherwise received only half a heart of damage.

    Anyways, good work Nummy!

    What Contrary said.

I have found the exact opposite, if you fall for a little, then start parachuting half way down, you can sometimes buffer big falls without dying.

Actually also a note about catapult jumping. We tested it a while ago and you are resistant to fall damage when you do it.

Just curious but when bombjumping forward sometimes I get that bit of lag or whathaveyou where I show that I jumped over and let's say am right in front of their base, then half a second later I show up somewhere in between their structures. I get it more often when bomb jumping backward. Is this standard for a lot of people or just something I've been getting?

Nah it happens to a lot of people. Maybe the new map collision changes on the test server will fix it. Havent tried the test build yet beyond connecting to look at heads since there wasnt anyone on when I was.

I get this a lot luigi and usually is the only determining thing to whether I fall in a spike trap or not. If I hadn't lagged, I would have maneuvered away from the spike pit.

Oh wait one more thing. You forgot the shielding upwards bomb jump, which I think is probably the most effective kind. Running jump and throw a bomb up right before it explodes and you'll get the most distance.

    Never thought of that, thanks.

I usually felt like the shield becomes inactive once it goes into glider mode, causing bombs to be dangerous, even from above. I'll definetely have to try this out.

There would be nice that,if a knight is launched by a catapult at max power,if he holds his shield to the right/left and he hits a wall,he won't get too much damage and he will break a bit of that wall,or,another idea:surf!hold your shield under you and surf!

    Superhero jump:
    1. Light bomb
    2. Immediately drop bomb
    3. Light another bomb
    4. Shield down on bomb #1
    5. At apex of jump throw bomb #2 up
    6. Shield up
    7. Feel cool

I jumped up like a 15-20 tile wall today which allowed me to grab the flag (I returned it also). Warning: it seems to be doubly affected by the "oh uh you're over here nvm you're way over there" glitch. Don't trust your eyes, act like it's going where it should be going.

Having to live with that glitch is the ultimate insult to skill. Doing something awesome like this only to get punished by the poor prediction of where you're supposed to be landing -_-

I see... So that answers my question on how high a structure needs to be before it can be considered "jumper-proof" - i.e. almost twice as high as I had thought. Oh flaming heck - how do I reasonably design for that??

Not that too many people will be able to reliably repeat the trick, but still.... :huh?:
