Here is my simple guide to building that I hope will help new & old players alike.

    Scaling and Attacking Enemy Towers

    Traps
The key to a good trap is to trick the enemy into trying to evade the trap, but in doing so, trapping them. Plain old spike traps are good to defend towers and are best when strategically placed in front of towers to prevent enemies attacking the tower. Some traps are built into towers. But don't forget the true purpose of a trap; to trap and kill the enemy player.
    Spike Traps:
Spike traps are best when placed in front of towers or in strategical positions to hinder the enemy. Here are some ideas of a good spike trap.

    Or this one.
    screen-13-03-02-20-46-37.png
    Booby Traps:
Booby traps are traps where you trick the enemy into going into a small enclosed space and trapping them in there and somehow killing them, either with archers or with collapses. This is one designed for archers to kill the trapped victim. The victim squeezes through the small hole and, unwittingly, gets trapped inside, with an archer hole on the inside so an archer can shoot the victim. If the enemy throws a bomb down the archer hole, it falls down into a long chute designed to dispose of bombs. That way the archer is 95% safe from bombs.

This trap is designed for the enemy to entrap themselves in the enclosed area and, providing a builder is manning the tower, a builder will destroy the bridges on either end and the bridges in the middle would collapse down onto the victim, splattering his remains everywhere. :p

    Towers
Towers are designed to hinder the enemy's progress, and defend your base against attack. There are all types of towers, from team door towers, to bridge towers. Towers are an essential must-know to building.
    Team Door Towers:
Team door towers are designed to let your team through, but not the enemy. It hinders the enemy's progress as it takes time to destroy all the team doors and when the team doors are gone, anyone can access the tower. Here's a very basic tower.
    screen-13-03-02-21-18-17.png
Here's a more advanced tower with spike traps and archer holes.
    screen-13-03-02-21-24-55.png
    Trap Bridge Towers:
Trap bridge towers are basically designed to not let the enemy get over the tower. They are simple to make and require little resources so they are ideal structures to stop enemy knights getting over them. When the enemy approaches the trap bridge, the bridge turns negative and the enemy walks through it, not being able to function with it at all. Team members can jump while in a trap bridge and they will jump up an extra 2 or 3 blocks. Here is a simple one with a bomb chute.

Here is an advanced one with spike traps and archer nests with a bomb chute.

    Tips
Here are some tips to help you become a better builder generally, and to make your buildings better. These are basically just must-knows of stuff you should do. Again, you don't have to do it, but you can and you should do this.

    Back-walling:
One basic must-know is back-walling, where you support your building with back castle walls around it to make it less likely to collapse and kill team members. Here's a basic idea:
    screen-13-03-03-10-04-12.png

    Bomb Chutes:
Bomb chutes are designed to safely dispose of enemy bombs. Here's how it works. An enemy knight comes across a weak structure and uses his bomb to collapse it. With a bomb chute, it doesn't let knights put bombs down. Here's a relatively simple idea:
    screen-13-03-03-10-08-18.png

    Archer Holes or Archer Nests:
Archer holes are designed to let archer's shoot and kill enemies and then when the enemy shoots back, the archer is safe behind a team door. Archer nests are big nests attached to tower above the ground with holes through the sides and bottoms, designed to allow archers to shoot enemies. Here's a basic archer hole:

    Here's a basic archer nest:

    Bedrock:
Bedrock is a builder best friend. If you can find a ground layer of bedrock, build your structure on it. It makes it harder for enemies to tunnel underneath your structure. Here's an idea of a tower on bedrock:

  2. Really good guide considering it's not complete. Really thorough and helpful to the less experienced and nooby builders. If they even get on the forums and take the time to read this though :fcp:

Yeah, most newbies wouldn't be on the forums yet, but I'm hoping some take the time to read this and that it helps others.

    Combat
Very rarely does combat occur with builders against enemy players. Here's a fighting guide for fighting against all 3 enemy classes. When facing knight(s), you'll usually lose, so the best thing to do is either run, or run around and evade him and spam the right-click to do as much damage as possible. When facing archers, you'll most likely win, so just chase after him and jab spam him until he either escaped or he died. When facing enemy builders, it's usually a 50/50 chance, so if you've anything less than 3 hearts, don't go in to fight him/her. And a quick tip: Never face Contrary as builder. :QQ:
    Scaling and Attacking Enemy Buildings
Scaling and attacking enemy buildings is hard, especially when you don't have experience. To scale an enemy building you just need to get some wood, and build ladders up the side of the enemy tower, allowing team mates to climb up and attack the enemies behind. Here's an example:

Sometimes, you might want to collapse a tower. To do this, go to the base of it, build a stone wall around yourself, and grief the enemy's tower until it collapses, unfortunately, with you. Here's an example: screen-13-03-03-11-13-59.png
Thank you for reading my guide and I hope you've learnt something new!
