Oh what folly to see my beloved fort laid to rubble, my men and I barely escaped into the deep entrenched catacombs that surround my beloved castle. Even now I still hear the maniacal laughter as the catapults destroyed the castle walls and the Red Scourge came pouring in, one by one I saw my friends slaughtered under the rusted iron of the Knights, so be it that I have lived through one confrontation, I fear we shall not survive the next.

Even as I write this down our remaining Knights look weary and defeated, our sole Archer continually fidgets with his quiver, indeed we are all on edge, the two builders who escaped with me have made a small outpost, and what meager rations we have are being passed around, we have called our safe haven 'Gaia' in the hope that mother Earth will spare we wounded refugees.

    Day 2
Last night whilst I slept, the knights heard horrible moaning coming from the surface, it seems that we were not the only survivors of that dreaded incident, I hope they find peace in their next life. We found an abundance of cave fungus, which has added a slight glint of hope to our eyes, for we do not need to eat solely gruel tonight.

Our scouts reported back in the evening, their is no sight of the Red Scourge in any of the tunnels nearby, and the remains of a catapult have been found, lo that it bears the markings of the Blue Eagle, as if a sign from Gaia that we may yet survive this.

    Day 3
Disaster! while exploring the northern most tunnel, two of our knights fell into a pit laced with barbs, there bodies are mangled beyond recognition and I fear that another blow like this would crumple what little sanity we still retain, the builders have blocked passage through the northern tunnel for the safety of us all. The fear of death can be smelled strongly throughout Gaia at night, we all fear what cruel twist of fate morning might bring us.

The noise, in the middle of the night it woke me, like the cry of a wounded man begging for death, it shook me to my core. It came from the now obstructed northern tunnel, I pray to the creator, that we do not find our end inside these ancient catacombs...

    Day 4
Today we smiled for the first time in what seemed an eternity, a strongman by the name of Brugo hoisted the catapult onto his shoulders and carried it to Gaia, never had we seen such a feat of strength that despite all else, we smiled. I long for the days when I could sit in the dining hall, singing merry ditties with the soldiers, eating the flesh of wild boar, careless as could be... Those days are gone, because of the Red Scourge. They. Will. Pay.

I stood at the camp and brought all to attention, and let loose my plan to seek vengeance on those who had attacked us, my words were met with cheers of the builders and the roars of the soldiers, come morning we march for the surface, Gaia have no fury like the Blue Eagle pissed off.

    Day 5
The long winding tunnels are treacherous, I sit on a plateau watching Knights stumble and slip, Brugo carries the catapult, the man scales rock walls as a lion would hunt a gazelle, fast and impressive. We leave the embrace of Gaia for whatever hell the surface holds. These days may be our last, we shall not spend them hiding in fear.

When all had seemed as lost as we were, we stumbled across a temple of the creator. Inside I stood awestruck, the small temple was one of the original temples, the large velvet MM waved on the flag of the creator, the troops have been rallied the strength and courage unmatched, the beams of sunlight flicker down from the roof, we know we are close, but the Red Scourge do not, tomorrow we shall slaughter them, as the slaughtered us.

    Day 6
As Morning Arose, we etched the powerful runes of MM into our armor, and prayed to the creator for his divine protection, the men were proud and bellowed with all their combined strength, the force of which shook Gaia to her core, today we would lay siege to the Red Scourges citadel, today we would be.... Heroes.

The builders scurried to collect stone for our siege weaponry and our single archer lay prone in tall grass, waiting for the first sign of the Red Scourge. As the sun reached its peak, all lay still, no movement whatsoever, the calm before the storm. It seemed to pass in an instant, for the sky was torn in two as the bombs flew, the catapult lay siege to the forces of the enemy, but they didst retaliate, with a startled cry I bounded out of the way as a section of their walls fell onto our soldiers, crushing them instantly, suddenly, I realised what they meant to do! I yelled at my men for a retreat, but it was too late, an enormous stone mass suddenly fell from the sky, my forces were decimated, Brugo and the archer the sole survivors, we ran like all of Hades was upon our feet, through the tunnels we fled, into pits of the murky unknown, unopposed we ran, until we collapsed of exhaustion. In the deepest darkness, we found our peace, for that night, we slept like the newborns.

    Day 7
We awoke in pure darkness, shadows danced on the walls, light being cast from deeper in the tunnel looked heavenly my comrades and I began to walk towards it, the smell of cave fungus cooking hit us, it was Gaia! We had found it, two builders and a Knight stood by the little outpost, we were not the only ones who had made it back! Plans were immediately made to attack the Red Scourge again, apparently these three men had been trapped in the Scourge's Citadel and had dug a tunnel here, that tunnel could take us right back to the Scourge! come 'morrows 'rise we attack there base from the inside.

It has been a full week since the fall of my castle, the Knights and Archer prepare to march on the Red Scourge's Citadel, all hell is about to break loose, we know we will die, but 'tis better to die fighting than to live in fear. The first soldier that saw us was the first we slaughtered, cut down by steel dyed crimson with the enemies blood, we emerged from our cavern bellowing war cries and bearing arms, our Knight loosed a bomb from his pack ripping six Red Knights to shreds...

I stand before the last Knight of the Red Scourge, whilst he pleads for his life I pull the drawstring on my bow, and let fly the arrow, the limp Red Soldier slumped before me, and I was alone, no comrades, no enemies. The ruins of the Citadel lay before me... Victorious yes, happy... No, in the end who was worse? The Scourge... or us?

Tis always an impressive feat to find a poet on the battlefield. The memories of Blue shall not pass quietly into the night! I, and indeed, many of my squad mates can not wait to hear how this tale ends. Truly all our struggles are mirrored in these circumstances, such as they are.

please read this, the events that take place in this story are mirrored by an event that happened on a friends server. We agreed on a 'Slayer' match, we would win by depleting the opponents units, not stealing the flag. we had ran out of team units because someone kept greifing by jumping into a spike pit, the red army attacked, destroyed my castle which i had spent the whole game creating, so the remaining blue army followed me into a mass of tunnels, there is no such thing as cave fungus in Kag.

I may write a new tale for those who wish it,
leave a comment of what you think of this story... criticism is quite necessary.

Well I'm no writer but I found the following line:
pithy and anachronistic. It punctured an otherwise excellent atmosphere.

You sure do have writing skills, but the story ended quite fast. You could've described the fight more, and placed some gore more.

I know writing ain't a so easy job to do, but you asked ;)

Well that is merely my opinion and on the other hand many people might find it a humorous and exciting line. Do as you think is best, again I am no writer.
