This is a really cool RTS game I just found, it's really fun to play, but fair warning, it's addictive.

In Airmech, you pilot a plane, a helicopter, a flying saucer, what have you, purchase units, command, and airlift those units around the map to try and capture different base areas, with your ultimate goal being to destroy your opponents home base. Sound a little boring? Well, what if I told you, once you airlifted your army to your opponents base, you could transform your flying machine into a war mech, and fight along side them? Sound more interesting now? Well, in this extremely fast paced multiplayer or solo game, you have to find a balance between building and organizing units and fighting along side them, in order to dominate the map and destroy your enemies base!

Airmech is free to play, and can be downloaded for the PC or as a google chrome app. It's business model is designed so that pay to win can be avoided as best as possible, anything you that you can pay irl money to get can also be purchased with credits earned by playing the game and unlocking achievements, and trust me, you rack them up pretty quickly. The only things that credits can't buy are either cosmetics, which don't effect actual game play, or items that are banned from pvp.

With these earned credits, or real life money, you can customize your army load out, choosing between the default, or purchasing different tanks, artillery, support, airmechs, or pilots, all providing you with different options for styles of gameplay!

This game gets the Alpaca stamp of approval- it's in open beta, free to play, not pay to win, and is extremely fun and addicting, its fast paced games can last anywhere from 5 to 40 minutes, newer players will probably take longer as they get the hang of things, but after that the games will take shorter and shorter. Just beware of bucky spam. I hate bucky spam.

I usually use bucky spam against AI :)

  3. Played some of it a while ago, the game is actually really fun and probably the only game so far to be called ActionRTS.
The reason I stopped playing was ridiculous lag between matchmade players (500 ping was normal) and even more ridiculous networking which caused the mechs to desynch and made dogfights more of coin flipping than anything. Has anything changed in that matter?

Well, you take damage from rockets that are no where near you, and when your opponent fires remotely in your general direction, but so far whenever I've been playing, people's pings have been very low, they just get occasional spikes.

  5. Ok, I gave it another try.

I'm not to sure, I just started playing again with some of the guys on mumble. However there was some big updates and it seems smoother then the last time I played. If I find any news on the netcode I'll post again.

There was an older game with a similar concept; you're a UFO, you're attacking some dudes, you can get your own dudes and guide them.

It was 2D, top down, and I played it on one of those oldish (mid 90's) controllers that came prepacked with like 5o basic arcade games. Anyone know that? I'd like to replay

I used to play this game for a whole year and I was totally addicted to it , I used to play 6 hours per day (and 12 hours per day on holidays).
I unlocked most of the skins ( only two skins left for me to get ) , I even got that chrome skin (after many trades ::P: ) and that purple skin for the saucer (it was my favorite one <3 ).
Until their stupid update ! that deleted my airmech account on steam (that update was supposed to make you able to merge your accounts to your steam account).
I spoke with the support team for like 2 weeks , but it was a USELESS CONVERSATION! I lost my account , my super rare skins (that took from me a whole year to get !) and ofc my legendary units that I bought for the shop using the diamonds I won on lots and lots of events.
That's why I left this game forever and I really do hate it's support team because they didn't even help their costumers (I wasn't the only one that had this issue) :>:(: I was upset for 3 months after this whole s*** happened and I stopped playing AirMech and using steam too...
I just wanted to let you know about that so that you would be aware ... </3

Didn't know you played it... I also played it... And also addicted... (I used to play it on my brothers account and got about 353 hours) I was playing like 8/7, I even got in clan "Legend"... But soon i got bored... My favorite Airmech was warthog, and while playing i found lots of IMBA stuff in game!... tried all Airmechs (maybe except bomber) Still have it in steam, but rarely play it!... But i still love it... maybe soon i'll start playing it again... For now i have Dota and KAG...

Yeah, i know, their support team is terrible... One day we (I and my brother) got banned, so forum moderator said that we'll get unbanned in 2 weeks (or something like that) 2 month passed and we still were banned. now rarely we play on my account, i still don't know if we are unbanned LOL ::P:

I got some test copy of this many years ago. As far as I could tell, unlocks proceeded in a pay2win fashion, so I dropped it.
