After doing a quick search, I find that this game has at least been mentioned in passing.
    Any avid fans?

i bought a gamepad just to play this game :B):

Spelunky will make you feel miserable, but it's still fun (at least for some people)

Haha, I could never play well on the gamepad, there were just too many cool tricks that I couldn't pull off on it. :P

I know I can change them, but thats just changing the buttons. They way they work is still very unintuitive.

What's so unintuitive about left, right, crouch, jump, attack, run...?

Use a gamepad (xbox controller preferrably), don't listen to Wonkyth. I tried playing supermeatboy without one and it just destroyed the experience.

That's because you cant change the controls in SMB, you're stuck with the stupidly unresponsive space button as jump.

Well I think the problem is that PC controls are almost never as comfortable and intuitive as gamepad controls.

Anyways yeah I played this game a bunch.

Same. I also love that roguelike feel in Spelunky... and the music.

Can't say much, everyone knows this game is just awesome.

    Pretty much.

I like that it's more or less a sidescrolling roguelike that's fairly punishing when you make mistakes or don't pay attention (spikes, arrow traps, big falls..) but very rewarding for those that persist long enough to enjoy it.

Honestly, I still haven't beaten it. I should really get around to doing that.

Damnit was just playing 5 minutes ago. Got to the second last level with a 5 or so hearts, a cape, spike boots, a shotgun and a good supply of bombs and ropes.

    Goddamn moving spike blocks.

Spelunky is one of my favourite games. It possibly has some of the best replay value I've experienced, too.

I think the best I have done is floor four. That game is a harsh mistress but I love it(been playing off and on about a year)

    Beaten it. Only once, though.

It's freaking hard. I know every secret to the way that game plays and yet it still manages to kick my ass.
But every time it does, it's my fault. That's why I love Spelunky. It doesn't curbstomp you with ridiculously hard challenges like games such as I Wanna Be The Guy does. It changes every time to make things different and more challenging, while at the same time allowing the player to learn.

    It's a work of genius.
