Bombs are just a bit too annoying.

    First i gotta say, i love the game. Can't wait for it to grow and get better.

    But as a builder i find that bombs just seem too... spamable. Basically i can spend a good 4-10ish minutes making a forward base complete with an outpost, archer windows, spike traps, and catapults. Just to have like 1-2 knights easily destroy everything with 2-4ish bombs. (or 20seconds)

    Also i find that cause of the excessive use of bombs the map turns from a normal map into a clusterF**K of holes EVERYWHERE. Which for me kinda ruins the flow of everything. Im not saying bombs are bad, but it just seem like they are just way to easy to spam and tend to ruin the game more than improve it.

    I dont think im the only one to think this too.

    i love bombs, thems explosion range is mabye a litle too high thats all i would change.

    I think bombs should damage terrain rather than outright destroying it and should do more damage to structures than terrain, which is something we might introduce next build.

    You also won't spawn with bombs in the future, you'll have to construct them at a bomb workshop.

    We should be able to load a catapult with bombs... but also. I think bombs should be replaced with like gunpowder kegs or something. Where youd have to place it down and then a time is set. Cause i feel that bombs that size wouldnt do that much damage to walls.

    Powder kegs are planned. Bombs are staying. We don't need to remove functionality to add functionality, however I agree that bombs should do less damage, see above.

    Bombs inside a catapult would be awesome. And the ability to attach a bomb to an arrow if you have both in your inventory as an archer.

    Geti's solution for more damage against structures and less against terrain is perfect, but I think that even more damage against structures is crazy. Lower it from what it is now.

    Sometimes bombs are the only thing keeping a builder from indefinitely rebuilding their fortresses, as they're the only things with enough punch to instantly take out up to three blocks at once (though not in the same direction). They're annoying, yes, but they're essential to sieges.

    I mean, if you give the kegs the bomb's effect and nerf the bomb a bit, that might work out.

    I'm going to repeat what I said earlier and say that the game would be more fun if all terrain manipulation was slowed.

    I think terrain manipulation should be slowed, but building should become faster.

    Contrary was the first to suggest it, fwiw. I agree, though we got complaints when we slowed the builder's ability to change terrain by a division of 1.2 or something so more drastic changes might lead to a fair bit of complaint. We'll see.

    Once everything in your inventory is part of a stack of items, loading the catapult up with various things will be more or less easy, as would a bomb+arrow -> bomb arrow workshop. At the moment when you've got separate inventories for everything it's a bit.. odd.

    Regardless, on the threads original topic, changes to the way bombs work are being discussed, we'll hopefully be able to make them still aid in a siege without the very boolean destruction they give now.

    Though even though i hate how destructive bombs are, I think its hilarious when a team caps your flag and runs back to their base, just to find that the "No-mans" land is just a HUGE hole, with like no way out.

    I think with the introduction of powder kegs, the ability for bombs to damage terrain and structures should be taken out all together. While bombs currently destroy three or so blocks, I've seen them used to devastating effectiveness when a knight notices tunneling and drops a bomb on the tunnelers, completely wiping them out.

    Powder kegs could be a bit more effective than the current bombs with the caveat that they have to be lit and then baby sat as they're moved into place, requiring teamwork to take down the opposing team's castle. As it stands, the knight/bomb zerg rush that would still exist with a bomb factory is kinda off-putting.
