Build 70/71 Discussion

    (Really need like a patch notes section on this forum)

    Most notably in these two patches is that we cried, complained and the devs responded. Amazing props to the dev team for welcoming ideas, such as the new voting system. The new voting system is creative and original something I haven't seen before (Great idea Vania). In my opinion these two patches show a great example of the community involvement in this game, and how important community input can be.

    Patch 71 gets rid of common annoyances but adds some interesting concepts into the game. Obviously the outposts are stronger and can be captured making it's role in the game even more game-breaking. Yet still the only thing that stands out for me in these patches is the new voting system (yet to test it out), just seems plain awesome.

    What are your thoughts on 70/71 patches?

    Really great, I love capturable outposts. Griefers still seem to get away scott-free, though.

    Also, is that a picture of Lights? I fucking love Lights.

    Until there's accounts we dont stand a chance against griefers.
    But lets be patient, accounts are coming and I'm sure we'll see a huge improvement in the quality of our matches once account are in place.

    I'm concerned that you're saying outposts are "game-breaking", how so? I think the dynamic of having more than one spawn point -> more than one base is interesting, and fun.

    Mmn, we'll see once people start using the new kick method...

    i mean outposts are "game-breaking" (tis a good thing) in a close game where having the ability to take control of multiple or one outpost closer to the enemy teams main spawn makes that team more dominant making it easier to win, putting pressure on opposing teams defense leaving them stuck at their own spawn. instead of hours of going back and forth, it makes matches generally faster.

    griefing needs to be dealt with by server administration - active admins, better remote server administration in general (being able to kick without having to be in the server).

    The ultimate griefing fix will be the account system + premium accounts.
    Till then, anything else is a band-aid.

    That said, I do hope this new system improves things a little.
    Definitely liking the other aspects of the patch - capturable outposts = win!

    The new anti griefer systems sucks completely. You have to wait for minutes until you can vote for someone. During this time the game might be completely ruined for severtal times...

    I dont understand the 15 minutes wait either... Wouldnt 1 or 2 minutes be enough?

    Worked for me twice in I believe Pozo's server. Some idiot started griefing, team was alerted, one dude said he had to wait a few minutes before he could tick.. then.. voila, piece of shit gone. Second time was instant. Someone took down a building, enough spawning players witnessed it.. toast. 15 minutes isn't so bad. It sucks if the whole server begins from scratch and everyone has to wait 15.. however, by the time the griefer starts being annoying.. it's gone.


    Added the following:

    I like the fact that outposts can change hands. They usually still get destroyed though as enemies are constantly flooding out. The outposts also make the game act a bit like point capture which is a game mode that works just as well as ctf. The new kick method is working. Give it time.

    Mwell, won't work as long as the whole team is not being totally involved.
    2 guys were destroying our fortress and puttin spikes around the spawn zone. I alerted the team, nobody answered, it's like they didn't give a shit.
    Also, when someone is griefing and nobody's around, how to know who's guilty?

    The best solution for me: protected servers with passwords, register on forums or something, and server admins being responsive to griefing and permaban for them. Best way to clean up and playing among people looking for a good game experience.

    Oh, I forgot to mention: I had this strange bug today.

    I died as an archer and respawned on the other side of the map. At first I thought that I swapped teams, but I had the same color.

    Some people thought I was hacking.

    That's an old and common bug, Agua :) It seems to happen only to red team.

    When i capture enemie outpost i have strange bug?My log goes crazy and i cant spawn at that outpost...
    Also,there is too many one swing kills in this build!Dont know what happened,but is is REALLY random and frustrating...
    You jump,someone swings near you and you die,he swing again and you explode!What is whit that?
    Today i had spawn problem,on blue team but i was read team :) Tried to steal the flag :p Did not manage lol.But it was cool,scary and funny!
    Played whit Vig,neat,Furai...It was cool!

    EDIT:I see lots of people dont know about picking enemies or teammates bombs!Everyone say it is not writen anywhere...Pick whit E and throw whit F!That easy lol.

    Sometimes arrows don't fly out when LMB is released and RMB remains pressed.

    Forced team switching is actually quite annoying when one has been in the same team since the beginning of the round. Infinite arrow spam on spawnpoint (pick archer class, fire ten arrows, switch class to archer, repeat).

    Occasional no respawn timer after death, only "press backspace ..." text and game screen visible; as if spectating.

    When an outpost is captured, the game spams several outposts.

    Outposts slide upwards through the ground.

    I don't know if it's just me but 99% of the time when a random map is generated, the game either freezes or I lose connection to the whole lobby for a while-> game restart, server rejoin.

    Wood and arrow deficit in mid to late game.

    Teammate shield pushing/blocking = major pain if done intentionally. Useful for letting teammates overcome walls by shielding upwards. One of the most annoying things about the shield blocking is that it doesn't just block, it pushes everyone away.

    Spikes- somewhat annoying since most of the time they end up causing more damage to teammates than the enemy. Spikes could be coloured -> red spikes don't damage red team, blue spikes don't damage blue team.

    10 minute vote wait - why ten minutes?

    Why do I lose resources when looting a body?

    Why is giving away resources to teammates prioritised over looting?

    Catapults are not spawned where they are supposed to.

    Suicide bombing should be discouraged by blowing the knight up but not harming the environment.

    Bombs are not supposed to be a knight's weapon.

    Fallen blocks create weird corrupt tiles in the sky and on the ground which cannot be dug, built upon or removed in any way

    Enemies spawning in captured outposts.

    Former location of an outpost creates a permanent spawnpoint.

    Falling stone block destroys only one ladder tile.

    pressing F is too slow to browse through resources in combat situations

    Spikes do not fall

    Bottom of map prevents proper jumping

    Possible to build catapults without chopping down a single tree. -> place 2 catapult tiles, switch class to builder, repeat.

    Instahealing by switching class. Only way of dealing with this is destroying the spawnpoint.

    Also, when I had the flag yesterday there was no E between those marks.

    I suggest that those who are on a team already, aren't forced to other when it goes unbalanced, only those who join are forced. People will still balance it themselves if it goes rudely unfair. I think also that some of the buttons and their commands need rehauling.

    I have noticed that griefers seem to get kicked far more promptly in this build than the last few. I think the double-effect of having the votekick system AND the check-mark system ensures that griefers are disposed of quicker. In previous builds, players who are concentrating on the game and see a vote pop up can just hit F11 if they don't want to be bothered. But now, players that are paying attention to a griefing situation will check the box of that troublemaker and it will stay checked until enough people follow suit, ensuring that they will have their say in who gets booted regardless of whether they missed a vote or not. The timer on this seems to work. It helps to ensure that griefers have less of a chance to retalliate against legitimate players, even if they call in all their buddies onto a server all at once. (Not that griefers have many friends! :P)

    Griefing is still happening of course, but these fixes - along with a higher community awareness - seem to be providing some much needed vigilance to this problem. Kudos!
