Chasm, by Discord Games!

Chasm is a phenomenal 2D Action-RPG Platformer being developed by a group of people named Discord Games. This game is going to be fully released for all the main computer OSs - Windows, Mac and Linux (which is great, since I know there's a lot of people vouching for Linux, these days!).

It can be classified as a hack 'n slash dungeon crawler and it features procedurally generated dungeons, tons of loot, monsters to kill and a bunch of secrets to be found all around! It aims to be a retro-type game, crediting influence to games like Castlevania, Legend of Zelda, Metroid and Diablo. In the game, you control a soldier in the midst of his travels. He stumbles upon a mining town where there has been a strange incident - a group of miners disappeared after finding a long-forgotten temple below the town, awakening an ancient evil in slumber. In the game, you explore these massive procedurally generated dungeons as you gain new abilities, items, skills, with the goal of finding these men and rescuing them to their homes.

Discord Games are running a Kickstarter for this game, and they're hoping to get it Greenlit on Steam, as well.
I was thinking you guys would really enjoy this game because this is the kind of community that enjoys Spelunky, Legend of Dungeon, KAG and other games of the sort, so yeah! Let's hear some opinions on this awesome game.

I love the art style, most of all. The gameplay is solid and extremely rewarding and fun. At first you may feel the controls are a bit clunky, but it's all for a brief amount of time. It is a lot of fun and I strongly recommend it.

Oh hell yes. The moment I laid eyes on this beautiful pixel art, I was in love. Then I read it's a metroidvania. And it's for PC. And it runs on even the crappiest computers.
Sorry, I have to go cry some tears of joy.

 

I saw this somewhere before but it didn't look as good as it does now.

 

I know, isn't it amazing? :D The art style, the details to the caves... it's all really cool.

 

They seem to actually give a shit about concise controls and minimalist UI despite it being a PC game which tend to be horrible about that.

PS. During the stream I noticed that you seem unfamiliar with some very common game terms/mechanics; like mob spawners, STOP STEPPING ON BOMBS, what STR/INT/Wt. mean or the purpose of the XP buff.
