Could not connect to authentication server

    Hello there,

    I've just reinstalled the game on my ubuntu box (64bit 11.10).
    everything seems to work just fine except i can't login.
    Here the error message : "Could not connect to authentication server. check your internet connection and try again"

    Finally it works.
    It wasn't kag fault in anyway... but a problem with my ISP and dns resolving.

    If anyone encounter the same problem a Curl error 6 seems to mean a time out problem or dns problem.

    hey diceroll,

    Thanks for posting back with what you found out the problem was even though it wasn't within KAG.

    Can you do me a favor and tell me what the IP address of your ISP's DNS server is? (either in your /etc/resolv.conf, but if that is 192.168.x.y then it'll be in your router's status page somewhere). If there's more than one, I'd appreciate all of the addresses - I just want to look at any problems that may be on the Internet between our DNS servers and theirs.

    Hey Diceroll,

    Yep! DNS is definitely the problem, there is a connectivity issue between THD's servers and your ISP's DNS servers. You should call them and tell them.

    You may have better luck with Google DNS (8.8.4.4/8.8.8.8)

    To give a bit more information --

    The entire Internet can't reach those IP addresses, which means you are very likely having DNS issues with many sites or should be.

    You can see that from the THD/KAG servers, I only go one hop out into the Internet before my ISP's core routers don't have a way to reach your ISP's DNS servers. Unfortunately this is not a local issue on my end or yours, but a larger issue with how your ISP is routing that block of IP addresses.

    This pseudo-analysis is making one assumption though, and that is that the DNS servers are using those same IP addresses to reach the Internet. Unfortunately there is no way to really know that without working with you in real-time. If you want to jump on IRC or IM me, I'd love to poke at/analyze this a bit more to ensure this is your problem.

    In the meantime, you're best off using alternate DNS servers like Google DNS.

    I pretty much didn't read that code at all, sorry, but nobody would have. It happens to me in this just one server. My suggestions are:

    Keep trying (lame)
    Ask an admin in a server/report it to the online admins in the wiki
    You have DNS issues with lots of sites, or should be.:)
